John Cena vs. UMAGA

I posted this on another forum but it could get a proper run here as well. Bleh.

Ok, so I just watched RAW. Almost a week later but whatever. I thought it was overall a nice little show, looks like we could be in for some great telelvision leading up to the Royal Rumble. I like the way they booked Victoria against Mickie James also, that should be classic. On a side note, I love it when Mickie wears tight ass jeans.

Ok, enough. The segment with Cena and Umaga was well done. I like how WWE kept them seperated even though they've had a few confrontations so far. It was nice to see a little staredown between the two as it got the fans charged up and really, Cena is coming off well here. He's gaining a lot of steam back as the company's top face, I like to see it.

Now these men have fought eachother before. They had at least one official match in which Edge I believe, interfered and Umaga kept his undefeated streak alive. In most of the other altercations Cena has gotten the best of the Samoan Bulldozer but obviously has not scored a pinfall.

I really wasn't sure if WWE would book this feud just yet, it seemed like they were going to wait to book a proper one, but now we know it's officially on as there is a title match in place. My question is, if you were WWE how would you go about booking the match?

Both men are arguably at their peak. A loss for Cena probably wouldn't do much damage to his character even though it'd be his 2nd loss to Umaga, but does WWE really want to give Umaga the strap at this point? Could he carry it for a lengthy period of time?

Also, the undefeated streak. Would you be happy if Cena was the one to end it? He is the top babyface in the company, but if he were to end the streak now, one has to believe there'd be nowhere to go but down for the big man, unless WWE were to book a rematch in which Umaga wins the title then but has the streak out of the way.

Maybe they'll go with a draw like I thought would happen with Joe and Angle. So many options, how would you like to see it handled?

Id like to see Umaga win and hold the belt for a month. because as much as i think he could be Champion, i dont think he could be Championg going into Wrestlemania...if you know what i mean. But having said that, if he wins, how do u get the belt off him before Mania without then diminishing the streak.

Its a tough position. But i think SuperCena will retain and face big Dave at Mania. Title vs title.

I wish my sex life was like ECW, first you get a One Night Stand followed by 2 months of nostalgic orgasms and then 6 months of constant sucking.

I think a sixty minute iron man match going to a draw and sudden death overtime would be great,

No seriously I'd let Umaga take the strap as a transitional champ until No Way Out thus leaving the standard Royal Rumble winner versus Champ who regains at No Way Out format. Basically a quick three match series between Umaga and Cena to keep Cena busy til mania.

I had a sig, once.

I guess if I had to guess, I'd say maybe their 1st encounter ends in a non-finish. Maybe one of them gets DQ'd or something (likely Cena). Then they have a rematch at the Royal Rumble and that's where shit will hit the fan, but it what direction will the wind be blowing?

I'd say if it were middle of the year, they'd give the title to Umaga and go from there but with Wrestlemania on the horizon, one has to wonder if they'd actually put the big man in one of the title matches.

I guess I could see it happening but only if the card is STACKED. Hmm.. Tough call. That's why I made the thread lol

So you're saying, you'd have Cena end the streak then?

I personally would have used the next few months to build the feud and futher develop Umaga's character by going ape shit and beating people up in the backstage area, fans, etc. Then book the two at Wrestlemania as it's blatantly going to be Cena headlining but he's pretty much faced everyone except for Orton.

Anyway this feud is booked, I am damn against Umaga winning the title for the next year at least primarily because I don't see him as a champion and I rarely see the value of giving a World title to someone who has been with the company for less than a year - Lesnar being an exception and look how he has turned out.

Umaga has been with the company before as Jamal of 3 Minute Warning in 2002/03. So he's no newcomer. His heart is definitely in wrestling and i believe he is credible enough now to defeat the likes of John Cena.

neither should be champ as they are both poor wrestlers, cena has mic skills tho, so its like picking whos the worst and going with the other guy.
everyone knows im not a fan of cena but against umaga im with cena winning. they couyld have a match with a dq finish(nyr?), umaga winning and then umaga destroys cena afterwards, cena returns a few weeks later and umaga wont face him again. this goes for a little while and cena beats umaga clean at nwo time.
umaga gets his shot and actually beats cena again but doesnt have the title goin into wm.

well imo anyway

I'm really not for this feud at this time. Like you all have said there's essentailly no way Umaga can go into Mania with the strap. It just seems akward. There's a few ways I could this playing, the first is more likley, the second would be like a dream of mine kinda. First option, have Umaga and Cena end in a no contest somehow, thus leading into a gimmick rematch, perhaps first blood or ladder match, that way Cena can keep the title but also Umaga would stay unpinned. Second would be to have Umaga get the title then in screwjhob type have him drop it to HHH at the Rumble, and later that night have Edge win the Rumble thus leading us to the awesomeness that is HHH vs Edge

I remember a while back an undefeated Muhammad Hassan had his undefeated streak snapped at the hands of John Cena. As I recall it didn't stop any of the momentum that Hassan had at the time neither. As a matter of fact I think he was scheduled to win over the Undertaker and fued with Batista over the WHC until the incident(which was an over reaction in my opinion). But anyway, I think the first match should end in either a DQ or a countout to keep the streak alive and possibly set the fued up for a few more monthes. If I remember correctly Umaga has had an impressive winning streak and, I actually think he has one of the more impressive undefeated streaks since Tatanka's in the early 1990s. How many people can say they have defeated HHH, HBK, Flair, and Cena much less in the same month? So he will be ready to run with the title but, I think they should wait until after Wrestlemania to put the strap on Umaga.
