Why Edge will lose/retain WWE title at Unforgiven

Just my own personal pro and con list for the outcome of the Edge vs. Cena match at Unforgiven this Sunday.

Why Edge will retain
1. He needs a long title reign to become a legitimate guy Vince can bank on to headline ppvs, his previous title reign he had his legs cut out from under him in order to get a premature (imo) Cena vs. Hunter match at Mania. Would Vince have the complete lack of foresite to do the same thing again? I hope not.

2. They just gave him the rated R belt would they really have him lose it so quickly. (more on that later in the reasons he will lose the title)

3. Cena is needed to keep Smackdown alive for next year. The newly formed CW isn't going to be satisfied with the WWE feeding them the "B" show while ratings and ppv buyrates suffer because of it. Cena, despite how many feel about him is one of the bigger ratings draws the WWE possesess at this time and for Smackdown to continue to exist they need to move atleast one major player over from Raw. Cena in my eyes would do the trick.

4.Cena losing in a TLC match means a Smackdown guy can interfere and just tip a ladder over on him so not to make Vince McMahon's golden boy look weak.

5. There are really no big money heel wrestlers right now on Raw that are ready for a WWE title program with Cena if he would win back the belt. Umaga vs. Cena is a possibility down the line but you couldn't build a whole ppv around it and expect anyone to care. Orton is a possibility but with his failed drug test and inability to work house shows I don't feel that Vince would reward him with a high profile fued once his business is done with Carlito. Then again I've been wrong before...

6. No Mercy right now looks like its going to be an absolutely horrible ppv. I mean with it being headlined by King Booker vs. Lashley (a pairing we've already seen several times on Smackdown over the US title makes this a match I wouldn't want to see on free television let alone a ppv I was shelling out $35 for. With the other supposed high profile match being Finlay vs. Batista you would think that Vince would be desperate to throw Cena into this card somewhere against Kennedy or something to atleast make a somewhat more enticing buy.

Why Edge will lose the belt at Unforgiven.
1. They make it a point of saying in practically every aspect of the promotion of this match that Edge has never lost a TLC match (an error in its own right but whatever) Knowing how the announcers(I'm looking at you Michael Cole) usually telegraph a result by claiming one thing only to have the opposite happen does not bode well for the rated R superstar.

2. Vince McMahon hates Smackdown. I have no evidence why he would but the way he has positioned the roster to overwhelmingly favor Raw in terms of star power makes me wonder.

3. The rated R belt is the cheapest "new belt" ever introduced. I mean everyone knows its a Cena belt with a rated R sticker on the front which doesn't say much for the belts longevity.

4. Has Cena ever lost on consecutive ppv's before? I mean seriously I can't recall this ever happening, lets face it we should be thankful John Cena seems to be a good guy behind the scenes cause if he was as meglomaniacal as Hulk Hogan was/is with his backstage politics the guy would never lose. That being said, John Cena is still Vince McMahon's golden boy and his hard on for muscled up guys who can put a coherent sentence together will continue with a victory over Edge.

5. Cena's movie is coming out and I guess it would be useful in the promotion of the movie and the WWE itself to have Cena as the champ when he's out on the talk show circuit promoting this thing. Then again its a venture from WWE films so I don't know if its even a high profile enough project to get on talkshows like Leno, Letterman, and Conan.

Final Verdict: I think Edge will win but I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't. Thoughts?
