If Bret hadn't been injured

A whole bunch of "if's" here but, for fun, what do you think would have happened had Bret stayed fit. Had he not had the concussions and the stroke.

Sure he would have seen out his WCW contract (if it was still running, I can't remember!) when Vince bought WCW. But would he have gone back to wrestle at any time had he stayed fit?

Personally I think he may have done. On his terms of course. I don't think he would have ever been involved in any Vince, Bret, Shawn crap. But I do think he would have eventually gone back, like I say on his terms, for a one off match at least with Kurt Angle. I just think the competitive nature of him would have wanted a WWE leaving match that would have (in his eyes) been a better departure from the group than the one he had. He's often said if he had one match in him, he would have wanted Angle.

Congrats to Bulldog on a very interesting idea for a thread

If Bret Hart was around by the time WCW was bought i think he would have seek a mutual agreement for his release.

Some other guy would have put it behind, but not Bret Hart. I'm not going over what they did to him again and how he felt but i can say judging the way he feels (even today) about Shawn Michaels and the direction WWE's product is taking, he wouldn't want to have any part of it.

And yes, i'm sure he'd love to have his WM match against Kurt Angle - i know i would by the PPV for that match alone - but to come out of retirement and endanger his health for the sake of this one final match against a guy who's condition is perhaps worse than is own...i don't see it happening. I'm sure neither Bret or Kurt would bitch about who jobs and who goes over like a certain someone we know, though.

Of course had he been healthy and the odds on that match happening would increase dramatically, but again, i have my reservations on how his competitive nature, as the Bulldog put it, would suffice to set the gears in motion to his return to the WWE ring.

On a personal note, i feel that Bret made a statement about where he stands with the WWE. His did the hall of fame but refused WM. He did the «Best there was» DVD on one hand which shows if nothing else some degree of will to cooperate with Vince, but on the other hand help produced «wrestling with shadows» where he changes the tone and adresses (yet again) some issues. I guess it must have been a whole package deal. This of course tells me he's not ready to make that last final match. And had he not suffered his injury, i'm not sure he would feel any different.
I don't think i'd see him wrestling in TNA today, but he wouldn't be in WWE either.

Anyway, that's just my 2 cents.

Again, congrats to Bulldog on a fine post.

I agree, he wasn't planning on wrestling fulltime to this day since Hart is one of those people who knows when to hang it up.

This is an interesting question though. I think that when WCW was sold he might have gone over to Japan to continue wrestling rather than go back to work for WWF. I believe he would be willing to work for WWF on occasional appearences(like Hogan does) against certain opponents like Kurt Angle and Shelton Benjamin.
