Great American Bash Thoughts

Here's my thoughts as I was watching:

Paul London & Brian Kendrick vs. The Pitbulls
Nice opening match. It was given plenty of time (just short of 20mins) and both teams impressed me. It’s the first time I’ve seen the Pitbulls in action and I really liked them. Noble and Kash seem to work well together. I do have a problem with Paul London though. The guy is too quick for my liking – he goes at 100mph all the time – which makes some of his moves not believable. Also he goes so fast that he screws up some moves too.

Lashley & Theodore Long Segment
Crowd was rightfully pissed about this segment. I understand why they had to put this segment in, as many people might not have known about Lashleys’ condition, but It was as if they put Lashley out there to say to the crowd here’s what you could have had.

William Regal vs. Finlay
Strangely Finlay and Regal came out together – bit odd if you ask me. The crowd didn’t like this match much with multiple boring chants going around the arena during the match. However I thought this was an damn good wrestling match. Two veterans going at it old school. It’s a shame the crowd didn’t appreciate it. The little bastard interfering was quite funny.

Matt Hardy vs. Gregory Helms
Well Matt Hardy did eventually get a spot on the PPV. Shame it wasn’t advertised beforehand. Nice little match here between these two. Obviously since the match wasn’t advertised I was a bit surprised to see it, but with two great friends like this facing off against each other you knew the match wouldn’t be a bad one. Both men mocking each other during the match was funny. Shame Hardy couldn’t pick up the win, but at least it Helms had to grab a handful of tights to get the win. I’d like to see a lengthy program between these two. It could be interesting.

The Undertaker vs. The Big Show
A very, very, very weak explanation to swap Khali with The Big Show, however I’m glad it happened as this match would have stunk the joint out if Khali had like planned been in the match. A very unique match, which I liked. All the little doors they had to get out and them closing after 60 seconds. It was quite funny at the start seeing The Big Show crying in the ring whilst Taker was making his way to the ring. It put over the gimmick as being one of the unknown. Not a bad match up, could have been a lot worse. I did have a problem with the finish though. They could have at least had a bit more fource when they “crashed” through the cage. It just looked very weak.

Bra & Panties Match
Ummm…. I went to get a drink during this one. Next.

Batista vs. Ken Kennedy
Well although the records show Mr. Kennedy as the winner, he was Batista’s b!tch for most of the match. Although there are many fans of Ken Kennedy, I haven’t jumped on the band wagon fully. The guy is good in the ring, I’ll give him that, but I’m not feeling his out of the ring character much. This was just the way I saw Batista taking the match if it was against Mark Henry… in a match just short of a squash. I didn’t think they’d go that way since Kennedy was involved, but they did. Many Kennedy fans will be a bit pissed about it, but I’m not. The Animal lived up to his name, and is ready to reclaim his World Title back.

King Booker vs. Rey Mysterio
I like how they’ve gone about introducing the competitors in the ring during the championship matches on all 3 brands. It makes the match seem that little bit more special. This match went pretty much as expected. Chavo hinted that he’d turn on Rey in their segment earlier in the night… and sure thing he clocked Rey-Rey with a chair and King Booker is now the king of the World.

Overall I enjoyed this PPV. There was nothing really bad about it. The in ring action was top notch. Many people thought this would be a stinker of a PPV. But over all it was a pleasant surprise. I’ll give it a 8 out of 10.

Edge will rise again...

From WWE.com

King Booker added some new bling by pinning Rey Mysterio to become the new World Heavyweight Champion. Booker was victorious thanks in part to Chavo Guerrero, who shocked the world by nailing supposed friend Mysterio with a chair.

This definitely means they're calling it World Heavyweight again! Awesome. So my other topic was correct... Rey is not a Heavyweight, therefore they took out that name. Now it's back, sweet.

I'll post my thoughts in a bit. I got so excited when Chavo clocked Rey... I knocked over a cup of water... LOL

I'm more of a Smackdown fan than RAW.

Sounds good and wished I watched it.......definitley best GAB in years, maybe since it left WcW.

PS: Go Booker. Now leave the King gimmick.

It took them long enough, but Rey Mysterio's pity title reign is over(face it, he was only given the title because of Eddie's death).

It sounds like a better show than I expected, although my expectations were low. I hope you do post some links for matches, although i'm only interested in some.

What ya know my prediction came true after all, they booked Hardy Vs Helms. However it was a non title match. Was there any explanation about what happened to Super Crazy? Wasn't he supposed to be in it instead of Hardy?

I didn't watch any of it but sounds like the PPV wasn't that bad.

We did have the Punjabi thing and to make thousands happy, Rey lost the gold.

Note: Despite the fact he received a beating, Kennedy won which is great to my fantasy purposes and it's a killer to all of those who had Batista eheheheheh. I'm sure to make the week's top but i'll let you know (like anyone cares anyway

Missed the first half of the tag team bout - too busy playing poker. But its good that the pitbuills didnt win - extends the feud a little. Not that I care for them much, but what happened to Gymini?

US title match was good for what it was - shame it was considered "boring" by the live crowd. Did anyone hear Cole try to explain the boring chants because they wanted Lashley in there? Is that his new nickname? Would have preffered hardy as a replacement. Actually, would have preferred hardy vs kennedy on the card

Helms-Hardy was again good for what it was. Would have been cool for Shannen Moore to debut, take the title and run to ECW. I know not everyone likes the cross-branded stuff, but Summerslam is coming so it wouldn't have to be for too long

Thought the Punjabi Prison was a better concept than it would have been. Writers did their best I suppose to get Big Show in, since they are too busy booking raw and ecw - or is Russo secretly back? but what was the point of the Khali segments earlier? He was going to call taker out "now" after the tag team match, is he really THAT slow

Bra and panties was ok, they should just have a strip off since all of them end up in underwear anyway and they willingly take part in bikini contests. Maybe thats a rule of the bra and panties match - act embaraced when you lose.

Kennedy - Batista. Ok. Really wanted kennedy to do his spiel. Damn Batista. Shame about Henry being out tho. Maybe he should have just done a promo with heel jobbers galore - Dean and Gymini and the like

Rey-Booker. Pretty good. Obvious run in. But is batista an automatic contender. Make it a 3 way with Kennedy at least since he won. Was a shame that when i looked on WWE.com on the poll, more people were looking forward to the bra and panties match than this.

Better than expected PPV, but nothing major happened.

Well since the WWE never publically announced the match at the Bash there was no need for an explination. I did watch Afterburn, which came on before the Bash here in the UK, and Josh Matthews said Super Crazy is the number 1 contender... but he also said he might have the match at the Bash or another time.

They still air Afterburn over there? I miss the recap shows a little, it was nice to watch MadTV at 11PM and then switch over to WWE The Bottom Line afterwards. Not to mention that it would cost almost nothing to produce.

I also want HEAT back on TV since wwe.com's webcasts suck donkey balls due to their choppy video, but that probably won't happen either.

Ye we still have Heat, Bottom Line and After Burn. And as you probably guessed ECW replaced Velocity. We still have all these shows on TV over here.
