Special PPV's

I had one of my little ideas the other day (they're not good) about PPV's and how to make them a little more "special"

Why not occasionally have PPV's that feature a particular type of wrestling. The current WWE roster is such a hotch-potch that you could go with pretty much any sort.

For example a PPV that is like a Hardcore Heaven show. Brutal bloodbath matches only. And another that is a Cruiserweight Cup PPV, they've got the talent their to pull it off if they let them perform. My favourite would be a Pure Wrestling PPV with RoH style matches to showcase the guys that can really go on the mat.

The PPV's would be in "tournament" style with a cup at the end that could boost the winner up the roster and give them an angle to push them on with. You needn't just use WWE guys either, they could bring certain specialists in with the intention to help them put over their own guys as being awesome.

Think on!!!

Humm I'm torn on this. I would like some specialist PPVs but they could become stale. A Cruiserweight PPV could end up just being matches filled with spot fests.

At last years WWE annual meeting with shareholders Vince McMahon mentioned something along the lines of PPVs having themes. Now I don’t think they’ve done this really, with the exception of the Great American Bash, but I haven’t seen that PPV in it’s 2 year run with WWE, so I’m not even sure if that has a proper theme.

A gimmick PPV would be ok I guess? All the current feuds that were going at the time would have to have a PPV match with a gimmick involved. In the lead up to the PPV you could have the wrestlers completing challenges in order for them to gain the advantage of picking the gimmick for the match.

I personally don't feel tournaments would do to well on a PPV stage these days. The only way they could do it is with 4 men. Any more than that then it would loose fans interest. I don't mind watching a guy wrestle twice on a show, but 3 or 4 times? No. But that’s just my personal preference.

What about mixing it up then and having all three tournos on one PPV. If it's just semis and finals then that is nine matches which would be fine and you wouldn't get overload of just one performer or style

I supose that could work. You'd be able to let the wrestlers go out a little more in their semis, and still have some left for their final. I do think PPVs need filler/raid the fridge matches though, just so the crowd isn't blown out for the main event. In a tournament esq. PPV it'd be difficult to have such a match, unless you just stick the divas and the Miz out there for 5mins for a bikini contest.

I think the New Year's PPV has had an elimination chamber match each year, and then there's the Rumble, and also Survivor Series, and the Cyber Sunday crap.. so those are some that have specific things you know you'll get..

TNA has that Lockdown and I'm not a fan of it.. Too many cage matches I think..

I say they should bring back a one night tourney like some of you have suggested, maybe the KOTR on PPV or something else.

I've said it for years, but they need to do the Deadly Game Tournaments more often, it is (Survivor Series 98) by far and away one of the greatest events in WWF/WWE history and it's a shame they haven't gone back to the well with this idea.

I wish my sex life was like ECW, first you get a One Night Stand followed by 2 months of nostalgic orgasms and then 6 months of constant sucking.

Lol, when I saw you had posted I just knew you were going to mention that!!

That was an excellent piece of booking. The crowd was teased for weeks into thinking they were getting a new super over face character just for him to grab the title and spit in their faces. Great stuff. The crowd was almost silent when he mocked them, not because they were bored, but they were devastated. I love a heel crushing!!!

I know

I was young and a Rock fan dammit! He was on the same level as Foley....it's still real to me!

But yeah, a Deadly Game Tournament should of been what happened at the beginning of 2005 for the vacant World Championship. I want to see one of these at Survivor Series this year.
