Wishful thinking?

With all the rumors of ECW starting up in June. It got me to thinking:

If RVD uses the MITB at One Night Stand and wins, then decides to take the title to the new ECW, then that leaves one title in WWE, not to mention a decreased roster in WWE, as they are going to have to fill the ECW roster with more than just the few original ECW guys they have or can get ahold of. Also, if they give ECW, Smackdown's Timeslot....could that finally mean...just maybe.....

RECOMBINING THE ROSTERS!!!!!

I already heard that they are not splitting up the brands. They may actually give ECW the AM Raw slot at Saturday Nights/Sunday Morning at 2AM which would be like the old ECW. You will also be surprised, they are not going to take a lot of the former ECW guys that are already on WWE Rosters. Maybe the only guys they take are RVD and Super Crazy. With Smackdown being preempted in most markets this summer, I don't see Smackdown being built up which would be the reason why there is no draft.

I don't ever see the rosters being combined only because WWE makes more money having more pay per views and what not.

I think what's going to happen is that there will be an ECW Title, and it might be because RVD wins @ MITB cash-in match, and turns down the title for the old ECW title..

However, I don't think you'll see the main guys like RVD wrestle in the internet timeslots and/or late night shit. I think he'll continue to wrestle on RAW but under the ECW umbrella, if that's makes any sense.

It does make sense, it's like how they had some matches be considered WCW matches early on in the invasion.

That would be interesting to see RVD win the title and then reject it like Shane Douglass did when he won the NWA World Title.

Visit and shop for video games at my Amazon-based store, also get discounted HD DVDs while they last.

That's exactly what I think is going to happen. If it does, you can give me rep.

I was thinking the exact same thing, funnily enough. It would be a great way to start the new ECW - like how the old ECW was started.

And if the JBL/RVD rumours are to be believed, then why couldn't the roster be recombined? The 2 guys will probably hold the 4 big singles belts going into this one..

Don't get me wrong, ECW had it's bad moments as well as the cracking stuff, and history always seems to make us look back fondly, but at a time when WCW and WWE were producing absolute dross (94-96) ECW were groundbreaking and innovative and showed both those major companies the way forward. To do that with the fanbase they had was an incredible achievement.

It never did cut across to the mainstream floating audience though and that, along with a lack of a tv deal, killed them. It always seemed "inclusive" and I'm not convinced their type of fan would have remained a fan had they crossed over to mainstream. Kind of in the same way a lot of us loved TNA up to the last few months. As they are now forced to chase a mainstream audience, they will start to alienate the more hardcore fans that will be driven away by seeing Buff, Luger etc on TV.

As for RVD.....well he certainly draws either a positive or negative response from most. In my opinion, I loved watching his ECW matches by and large where his weaknesses were better hidden and his move set was more expansive. With the limited moves that he's allowed to go for in WWE and their exposing of the things he's not so good at, I'm not a big fan of this RVD-lite version we have now.

I agree although since he's come back he appears more extreme then he did in recent years. I hope it continues.
