WWE and faces

Remember, I haven't really been watching wrestling. I've been making some attempts recently to be informed as to what's going on though.

One thing that strikes me about WWE today, and I could be dead wrong, is that aside from John Cena there are really no decent faces in WWE. This is, more then likely, the actual reason why they are keeping the title on John Cena. They need a face, anyone, to help the company out.

Question one: Is that a big reason behind Cena's push?

Two: Are there any young faces who have a legit shot in WWE today?

Three: Who could they make as a top face?

What about RVD? Man, that guy was over huge last night. I don't care what you say about his move list, you might be right and you might be wrong, but fans really seem to like him. If they could apply a storyline to him, maybe get him a mouth piece of sorts to help him with mic segments, he could really take off.

I guess I would have to say:

Raw: RVD, Shelton (after mama boy ends)
Smackdown: Lashley (Not anytime soon though), Matt Hardy

There aren't too many young faces. It seems that WWE wants to bring them up as heels and then turn them into faces.

Yeah there are several young heels at the moment: Randy Orton, Chris Masters, Carlito, and Shelton to name a few.

I think RVD is the only viable option at the present time for a successful face.

I don't even think RVD needs a mouthpiece. If they let him be him like he was in ECW he'd be fine. You know.. the ****y asshole non-caring type of guy? The burnout..

He has all the tools and always has. He's a bit injury prone at the moment, but he is a guy that's always been over huge and always had the tools for a big push or title run.

WWE fucked up big with him in 2001, but I think they have a 2nd chance now.. They should run with him and see how it goes.

Whoever comes out of the Show/Kane partnership as the "good guy" will be pretty over.

I just don't understand the whole Cena thing - the WWE has given him a year with the title minus, like, 2 weeks, and he still isn't really over anywhere near Austin/Rock level. I can't help but picture some old, unhip 50-year-old writer constantly thinking "but white-boy rappers is what people love these days! Yeah!".

I thought Cena would be the face of the future, so to speak, for WWE, but it just hasn't happened. Ever since they started booking him like a baffoon during the whole Bischoff-Jericho angle, Cena's been losing momentum. I don't think the fact that he's a bad worker has that much to do with his popularity; I mean Hogan stunk as a worker and was still over huge.

Cena gained some of his fans back when he dropped the title to Edge but then WWE made a mistake in putting the title right back on him. Plus, he's not as cutting-edge anymore in his promos and that hurts. Week after week of jokes about poop and other childish things really hurt his charater, IMO.

It's easy to say WWE should listen to the crowd and turn him heel but there aren't many upper-card faces left in WWE.

Batista is the most-over guy in WWE but he's on the shelf right now. Plus, he's only got a few years left.

As for young guys who I could see being big faces in the future: Mr. Kennedy. I think the crowd will turn him face like Rock by the end of the year.

I think Carlito should play the role of the face in the Carlito/Masters feud. I believe Carlito could be over big as a face if booked right.

I have always said the Carlito reminds me of the Rock for some reason. I think he could be as over as the Rock was too if his character is developed right. I think he has a bright future as a fan favorite.

I'd still rather see Masters as the face between Carlito and Masters. But Carlito is growing on me, I'm hopeing he'll start using that backcracker as his finisher because it's just awesome. If he starts using that as his finisher, he's on his way. He could aslo be a good face
Right now tho on raw the faces I see are RVD, Big Show, either Carlito or Masters, Chavo??, HBK, and Ric Flair.
RVD and Big show have the most going for them right now.

I just cant see masters as a face. Atleaset not right now. Carlito is a good heel, but he is so funny he could pass as a face like the rock did.
