Miz Commentary:Miz gets motivated

From wwe.com

Hey there, Mizfits! I have a question to ask all of you. I don't need an answer; I just want to check something out: Have you ever had a speech (whether it was by a professional speaker, coach, parent, etc.) that really touched you? I’m talking about speech that really motivated you to better your life and stand up and do something.
Check it out: I witnessed one of the most touching speeches I've ever heard. I watched one man stand in front of 400 people and speak from the heart. He gave such great advice and motivation to everyone in the audience. People were so involved with the speech that I witnessed a lot of them crying. Don't think I didn't have a ball in my throat. I definitely felt the tears coming, but I managed to hold it back.
It was a very personal speech because in some ways, everyone in that room knew the speaker. The speaker talked about some of the hard times he was going through, and what amazes me is how positive he remained. Even in his most trying times he still wanted to lend a hand to anyone who needed it. This person was thinking about other people during the time when he probably needed people the most. Right then and there, I realized why people were crying and why they cared so much even if they really didn't know him: It was because he was a true role model — a hero in many of their eyes — and he was pouring his heart out to them.
The main point I got from the speech was everyone has something wrong in their life, whether it's boyfriend/girlfriend related, poor health, job issues, etc. But you have to stand up, keep your head high, and fight. Never give up and always try to remain positive. That was the main point. But if you were there and got the emotion behind that point, trust me, it would've touched you, too. I think anyone who has heard a speech that really got to them knows exactly what I'm talking about.

After hearing that speech, I'm in a motivating mood. So, I'm going to go off the example that speaker set. Have you ever been told you're never going to make it, or you're not big enough, (or too small, too big, too fat, too skinny)? Have you ever been put down, where you really start second-guessing yourself? I think we all have.Did you know that while I was trying out for The Real World (the first reality show I was on), I got told everyday, by many different people, that I would never make it? I heard things like, "What's going to stand you out?" Or they'd just laugh at me and tell me how stupid I was.
But I put their ridicule aside and tried out anyway. Trust me, those people made me think. I thought, "What was going to stand me out? Maybe this is stupid." But I said screw it. I'm going to go after what I want and say screw those people. Hell, my parents weren't even behind me; they wanted me to finish college. But I knew if I didn't do this, I'd always wonder what would've happened. So, I tried out, and after going through round after round, those people who were making fun of me started supporting me.
Wow, how weird, right? Finally, after about five months and eight long interviews, I made the cast of The Real World 10: Back to New York.
It didn't stop there, for those of you who saw Tough Enough. When I was trying out, I couldn't tell you how many people told me I wasn't going to make it. People would say there's football players — people 6-foot-7 300 pounds — Olympians and cage fighters. They’d say, “You've only been on reality TV, how are you going to prove yourself over them?”
I remember the second day of tryouts, when we had to do this really hard obstacle course. I'm talking hard enough to where people were passing out during it. That day, I got the second-fastest time out of 50 people, beating football players, 6-foot-7 people, Olympians and cage fighters. Once again, I didn't listen to negativity; I only went with what I had on the inside — and like what that speaker said — I had to fight and stay positive.
The point of that story is sometimes you have to go after what you want in life and not listen to, or worry about, those people telling you that you can't do it. Those people won't have to live with the curiosity of not knowing.
You will.
One of the biggest things I say is, “BE MIZ!” Being Miz is stepping into your fears and taking chances. Don't listen to people's negativity; go with what you believe. Have the courage to follow your dreams and believe in yourself. If it doesn't happen, at least you know you gave it your best.
I want to thank Matt Cappotelli for really motivating me. I wish him the best.
To everyone else, be good. Be bad. BE MIZ!!!
The Miz
