Bangin' in the New Year
By Mike "The Miz" Mizanin
January 6, 2006

I always enjoy New Year's. It's a great time to start over if you're having a bad year. I know you can start over any time you want, but there's something about New Year's that sets the bar. I mean, I always hear, "I'm going to start working out as my New Year's Resolution," or stop smoking/drinking. It's a good time to better yourself, set a goal and try to achieve it. Most of the time the resolution lasts a day or so, but hey at least we tried. Right?

After watching RAW and seeing that New Year's Revolution is coming up, I figured it's time I started thinking of a New Year's Resolution. I saw some of the WWE Superstars had resolutions, and I haven't even thought about it. I could go out with two chicks at the same time, but I 've done that already (More than once. Thank you Reality TV). Maybe I could find a way to get drunk, and not get a hang over the next morning. Yeah, that's never going to happen. I could try to do the not swearing thing, but that's such a lame one. I always want my resolutions to be good; something that could actually happen but has to be hard to reach, one where I really have to make an effort. My last resolution was to work really hard to get a WWE contract and that was a success. So this year, I have to one up it. Speaking of last year, I have to get these stories off my chest.

Every New Year's, a lot of my friends and I select a city to go to for New Year's. The last two years we went to New Orleans which was absolutely insane. Just walking down Bourbon Street with 20 of your closest friends getting trashed is such a great way to bring in the New Year. The best part about our New Year's, are the stories that come from them. Half the time we lose people, and find out that they went 40 minutes outside New Orleans back to some random girl’s house just to pass out. Then he snuck out of the house because they didn't know the girl’s name and took a bus all the way back. Or, we'll get the “I passed out in the bar and they threw me out and I ended up sleeping on the street because I had no idea where I was” story. Oh yeah, does anyone have a friend that falls in love while drunk and thinks they found, “The one”. Well, I have that friend too and his name is Ricky. Ricky found a girl in New Orleans while wasted and decided to keep in touch and wouldn't stop talking about her for three months. I'm talking to the point of being annoying. The girl ended up coming to see him and was a complete psycho.

I swear, the stories are endless. One time, I was arguing with this stuck up chick and Katie (yes, the drunken Katie from the reality shows) came over, saw this, and joined in. All of a sudden Katie throws a punch, and these girls start going at it. They were ripping hair, biting, throwing punches and rolling around on the floor. I was waiting for a boob to pop out (that's what every guy waits for). The girl's boyfriend went to throw Katie off and Katie's boyfriend started throwing punches at him. Meanwhile, I was sitting back watching in complete amazement of what just happened. It was awesome. Would you stop a cat fight? Me neither. The best part was they got kicked out, and we stayed and partied. Katie's a champ. That girl gets into fights all the time. I kind of felt bad because I instigated the whole thing, but after a couple shots, it was all good.

Another time, all my friends and I went to a gentlemen's club and this girl I was talking to the entire night couldn't get in because she was 20. I told her that we'd be out in 20 minutes, so she should just stay outside and wait. About two hours later, we came out and she was still there waiting.

Oh yeah, one of my friends made it on COPS because he jumped into a pile of trash. (Why? I don't know) and the cops had to pull him out. There were like 10 of them pulling him out; it was pretty funny. He didn't get arrested, but that was his claim to fame.

One of my friends wore girls’ panties on his head the entire day after he spent the night with her. I'm talking to every bar and club we went to. It was very funny.

The last night we were all in New Orleans we went out, and I ended up by myself at the end of the night because everyone had early flights the next morning. I ended up hanging out with two girls the entire night, gambling and having fun. We went back to the hotel and who do I see in the bed? A drunk, passed out, Trishelle. As a prank, my friends thought it would be funny to leave me and her in the same bed…very funny guys.

This year we went to Chicago and let me tell you, the stories piled up. Ten of us stayed at my friend’s house. Yeah, I said 10. It was a little cluttered, but we didn't care. The best story was my friend, whose house it was, took home this really pretty girl. We heard a lot of moaning and groaning then it stopped. So, like good friends we thought we should embarrass her in some way. So we blasted One More Time on the stereo and chanted our friend’s name. The best part was he got the one more time and the girl asked "Are they chanting your name?" You gotta love that. I figured out my resolution for the year of 2006. Ready for it....I'm going to work hard to get out of the WWE developmental system and get on TV. I hope everyone had a fun and safe New Year's. For the New Year, be good. Be bad. But be sure to bring it in the right way by BEING MIZ!
