WWE Wrestler of the Year:
Shawn Michaels

Why He Rocked: Took on Kurt Angle in multiple Match of the Year candidates, battled Hulk Hogan in a "Dream Match", and continues to put together some of the most compelling TV on Raw, whether it's on the mic or from the top rope. His impending feud with Shelton Benjamin could help elevate Benjamin into main event status. Still the Showstoper and The Icon, HBK continues to prove he's one of the all-time greats.

WWE Match of the Year
Kurt Angle vs. Shawn Michaels (Wrestlemania)

Why It Rocked: Quite simply, the Kurt Angle/HBK match from Mania stole the show on the biggest stage of the year. It was an old school match that slowly built up, delivering one of the great finishes of the year and a standing ovation from the crowd. Legendary manager Bobby The Brain is on record as saying that this was the best match he's ever seen, and it's pretty hard to argue his point. A classic in ever sense of the word.

I hate IGN, but I think these are some good choices. HBK-Angle had some great matches together and HBK also had possibly the match of the year against Shelton Benjamin on Raw during the Gold Rush Tournament. I may be getting the WM box set for Christmas(my family has hinted at it) and I agree with that pick. The only question I have is why John Cena was even considered for wrestler of the year since he didn't even have one good match that he wasn't carried through the whole time.

I would have placed the Shawn Michaels vs. Shelton Benjamin from the gold rush tournament in the running for match of the year. that match should have really bumped up shelton's career.
