That the WWE struck gold with the Rock vs. Hogan at WM18, 18 I think it was..... And now they are pulling a "WCW" and trying to bring back all these guys that are no longer long term servicable in the WWE. I am SOOOOO tired of them bringing back Foley, Austin and the Pipers of the world. WHY for the love of god can't they focus on their current talent? There is simply ZERO reason to bring in guys like Vader and Goldust when Val Venis and Tyson Tomko are sitting in the back doing nothing. Since when are any of the 4 of those guys intimidating to a guy of Batistas nature? Never.......So you may as well use jobbers on your current roster. At least get them on tv. This just seems likes its heading in the same direction that WCW went in. Now, TNA is grabbing all the guys that WWE deemed "midcarders" and will try to turn them into main eventers. Think 1999 with Chris Jericho, Big Show, and earlier with Austin and HHH. These guys were deemed "midcarders at best". As we all know Vince took Austin and HHH and made them two of the biggest superstars in the history of the business. Point being, just because WWE couldnt make Jeff Hardy, Christian and possible Benoit into superstars does in NO WAY mean that they can't be made superstars in TNA. There are only so many people you can let go from your roster and deem expendable before you make some critical mistakes. Watch your back Vince, there is offically another show in town now. And everyone but Vince should be happy about this.

Vince has been down in the mire before and you have to believe that he's going to turn it around again. We should be more positive. However there are an awful lot of danger signs for the group at the moment, not just from a writing/creative point of view but from a corporate viewpoint as well. As I've said in the recent past on other threads, I don't have any doubts that the WWE will continue existing in some form or other even if they have to go down to bingo halls (again). Hopefully something will come along soon, either a change in creative direction, a performer(s) that grabs the imagination of the target age group and crosses over into others too. Wrestling history has indicated that going down the route of recreating past conflicts and issues is not one that turns a company around and it's surprising to see Vince once again going to this well. Stop using part time performers Vince, unless they are still very relevant today, and get on with creating and protecting the new talents you are bringing through that could turn the company around.

Rep Power: 6 ![]() | I strongly agree with Simon. The WWE has a very deep talent pool of young guys in their minor leagues, OVW and DSW. Call some of them up and use them as more than enhancement workers, PLEASE! |

Rep Power: 6 ![]() | I disagree only in the fact that when used properly, guys like Foley can help elevate young guys to the next level. Foley's feud with Orton clearly established Orton as a big-time player in WWE. Why? Because the feud spanned several months and had a good story behind it. WWE tried to do the same with Foley and Carlito, but the feud was rushed and therefore, Carlito didn't get "the rub" like Orton did. I do agree that guys like Goldust and Vader shouldn't be used when Snitsky, Tomko and others are doing nothing. WWE is in a weird transitional stage right now, kind of like they were 10 years ago. If we think WWE isn't very good now, go back and try to remember how things were when Diesel was champ. God, that was awful. |

I half-agree with you Simon. While WWE definitely needs to use the talent it currently has versus bringing back guys who are so far past their prime, it's embarassing to watch them, some older guys are doing or have done very well in their roles in recent years. As mentioned by Djwlfpack, I think that Mick Foley, when booked properly, does wonders for elevating new talent. He understands his role when they bring him in, and tries his hardest to bring the best out of the younger talent. Randy Orton wouldn't have won the World Title if Foley hadn't worked that program with him. While I guess he never really retired, he does fall into the "older" category, but I think that Ric Flair is a priceless commodity after all of these years. His program with HHH is one of the highlights of WWE right now, and he can still work a decent match too. Lastly, Bob Orton is good as Randy's sidekick. While I don't want to see him working matches like he has been, he plays a good antagonist to Randy's opponents. Aside from these three guys, though, I don't think WWE needs to use any of the other older guys at their disposal unless it's for the purpose of building a true long-term angle. Roddy Piper hasn't been used well in either of his WWE returns in recent years. Steve Austin is just tired and stale. Road Warrior Animal had a nice semi-nostalgic run that sold a few DVD's, but that's run its course. Vader...why? Just why? WWE really needs to think before bringing in these guys. For the most part, they're just older and fatter and aren't doing any justice to themselves nor any true drawing for WWE. So, I guess what I'm getting at is that anything can be good in moderation and anything can be bad if done too much.

Rep Power: 19 ![]() | Does anyone else think it's wierd when people start talking about stages, cycles, and Vince being able to pull it out again? Ask yourself this on all those questions: why. Maybe the stage we are currently seeing is the last one. Maybe. That's just as logically as a transitional stage or something like that. I think all that talk is just crap that Internet fans come up with. That's not to say that somethings don't repeat themselves but there's no absolute in these variables. |
