Rep Power: 63 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Batista or Cena - Who will lose the belt first? Batista and John Cena both beat their heel opponents at WM21 to win the two top belts in WWE. Batista beat HHH for the World Heavyweight Championship, John Cena beat JBL for the WWE Championship. Today, while both men have swapped shows, they are both still in possession of their titles and neither have had to win them back in the process. Cena's notable feuds were with JBL and Jericho. In each feud, he was written as a "never-say-die" champion who simply would not quit, no matter how you stacked the odds against him. Rather Austin-like, in that respect. A one man band who was the bane of his heel boss's (Bischoff's) life. While JBL was unlikely to take the belt because it would simply have been a fantastically dumb move on the writers' part, Jericho was never really presented as a credible threat. Kurt Angle appears to have taken up the mantle of late, and is doing the best job yet at looking like he might actually dent Cena's armor. Batista has sort of gone the other way. He started off his title reign in very impressive style, demolishing HHH three times, including a Hell in the Cell match. The trade to Smackdown landed him with, predictably, JBL. The feud was rather unremarkable, and JBL (again) had none of the luck written into his angle that had kept him as champion for so long previously. Eddie Guerrero, now seemingly done with Rey Mysterio, has stepped up to interact with Batista. The writers are using Eddie's gift for sly and cunning tactics, while giving him this new determination to "win fairly", as we saw from the last Smackdown PPV. The hand-shaking and honour, followed by the malicious, behind-the-back grin certainly suggest Guerrero will be presented as an extremely real threat to Batista's reign. So, after quite some time, both champions have an at least semi-decent title feud. It's quite a long time for both reigns to remain simultaneously intact; which champion do you see losing first? I think it's fairly difficult to guess, as each reign is now pretty established, but I see Batista losing the belt first based on current circumstances. If the Cena/Austin similarity is deliberate, they'll go a lot further with the "no matter what you do, he won't stay down" thing before giving anyone else the belt.

Rep Power: 6 ![]() | I don't see Batista dropping the belt any time soon b/c he's still as over as he was when he won the belt, in spite of lame feuds. Cena, on the other hand, isn't getting quite the reaction he used to. Plus, Cena has Kurt Angle breathing down his neck and Edge's MITB contract staring him in the face - Batista's closest legitimate threat is Randy Orton, who just last week mentioned his interest in regaining the belt. Cena will drop the title before 2005 ends - Batista won't lose it until Mania.

Rep Power: 19 ![]() | Cena, his populartiy has been decreasing little by little for a while now while Batista is still really over. Batista also has no credible threat to his title other than Eddie Guerrero and Randy Orton, although the Batista-Orton feud won't happen untill Royal Rumble most likely. Cena on the other hand has both Angle and Edge going after him, and probably Triple H after he is done with Ric Flair. |

Rep Power: 10 ![]() ![]() | Cena will definitely lose it first, so that he can chase until Mania 22. Whereas i think Batista will walk in at Mania as a year long champion.
