Chris Benoit & The U.S. Championship

I like what they've been doing with Benoit lately. They are making him a monster again. Of course, I was an OJ fan and they have completely killed him off, but really, was OJ ever going to do anything?

This is more important than that. Benoit has a ton of momentum now, and it's making the U.S. Championship look more important than it's looked at least since Cena was carrying it around.

So, where do you think they should have Benoit go from here? The easy thing to do would just throw him in a program with JBL, but I think JBL will be better suited in a Million Dollar Man type of roll where he's focusing on acquiring new talent and humiliating the less fortunate.

I think a Benoit/Mysterio program would be great. That's what I'd do. They are both face, that's true, but does it matter? I mean, if they really had to they could just turn Benoit back into the "don't give a shit" bad guy he once was, but I think it'd even work well with a "respect" angle. Pretty much those two just going all out on each other for the gold. Not everything has to be this big crazy storyline, you know? Sometimes I love to just see two great wrestlers go at it.

They could start out with a regular match, give it a good 20 min. a tear the house down. Then they could have a 2 out of 3 falls match where at one fall a piece they have a double pin situation where both men's shoulders ar down, and then they could settle it all with a ladder match to determine the undisputed United States champion. I think it'd make he title look hella important and they could carry on the friendly or not so friendly feud for a few months..

I like the way they are using Benoit at the moment, and depending on who loses between Hardy/Edge,I assume they will be on Smackdown.
Either one would benefit from a feud with Benoit.
Although it may be seen as a step down for Edge.
Plus a returning Jericho could be added to the mix.
If nothing else,it would add some credibility to the title.
I reckon WWE tho will go with Ken Kennedy ..

Although they seem to be prepping Eddie vs Batista, I really wouldn't be upset with 3 months of Eddie vs Benoit, with a title in the mix.

Benoit is the man. An Eddie/Benoit fued would be great just based on their wrestling abilities, but something fresher would be nice. I think they are pushing toward a Booker T/Benoit fued right now though.

Thanks for the memories Eddie!

This is why I think it's such a great idea to have Benoit be the U.S. Champ b/c he can have a good-to-great match with anybody. Fans just want to see him work, so it wouldn't matter if he wrestled a face from time to time.

He can work against: JBL, Christian, Mr. Kennedy, Rey Mysterio, Booker T, Eddie (after his program with Batista is over).

I say keep the title on Benoit for over a year, then finally have him lose it. They could build the U.S. Title to be a very important title if they do that. Remember when ECW had RVD as its TV Champ? He had the belt for almost 2 years and he wrestled everybody. The TV Title was almost more important than the Heavyweight Title by the time RVD finally dropped the strap, which was due to an injury.

Of course, this is WWE we're talking about so I wouldn't be surprised if Benoit lost the belt by Survivor Series.

Well it's about time both belts (the IC and US) actually is meaning something, and just not giving it to anyone, and throwing it on the Card somewhere.

We have Ric Flair and Chris Benoit, both great champions and both former Heavyweight Champions.

I would like to see Benoit have the title for awhile. Then when he gets beat, the crowd aknowledges his title run, so they stand up at the end of the match and give him a standing ovation.

Hey, it's not much, but that is what I see happening here.

Keep the belt on Benoit for a long stretch, then finally have some crafty heel like oh say...Christian cheat him out of it, and then have him do a short term chase for the world title, while Christian cheatingly holds off his challengers till Benoit comes back for the belt. Which Christian fears the most, is Benoit coming after him.

Match 1 PPV: Christian gets DQ'd on purpose
Match 2 TV: Christian gets CO on purpose
Match 3: PPV Cage match, Christian wins with a new alliance from some new comer with potential, I have no idea who, I just do concepts, not details.
Match 4: Ladder match that Benoit wins.

Of course they would all be fantasic matches, bringing up the mad street cred of both already super credible performers, in turn making the belt even more valuable. Then after he drops it to whoever, he's primed to stay in the world title pic for quite a while, well we hope.
