No, please disregard my hatred for Ric Flair whilst reading this, as that is not the spur of this thread. The IC belt has not been used correctly, since Survivor Series 2004.

Why has this been the case you ask? With champions lie Benjamin, Carlito and Flair, it should be assume that the belt has been used well. But there is something that it has been lacking.

Rock vs Triple H
Rock vs Stone Cold
Stone Cold vs Owen Hart
Savage vs Steamboat
and so on........

What i'm trying to say is that WWE needs to get the belt off Flair, put it back on Carlito or Masters (preferably Carlito) and have them fued with Shelton Benjamin for 5-6 months. Make the belt credible and raise these two young stars into Superstars! That's just my opinion

I agree. But I think that Flair should hold the belt for couple of months, at least until HHH comes back. I think that Flair can bring some prestige back to belt then he can drop in back to Carlito and then start him in fued with someone. I don't think that Flair being IC champ can do nothing but good for the belt.

I have nothing but absolute respect for Flair, in my opinion he's probably the greatest wrestler ever.

However, for fuck sakes, does this really help ratings? Spice things up? Does this help create a new market share? Are people going to get excited over him?

People will get excited over TNA-NWA, just look at the commercial, but they'll switch channels when Flair crawls on.

I know what you are saying there Miakal. But don't you think that someone who was a 16 time world champion would bring prestige to the I.C. belt? I think that it will rather than just have Carlito come out carrying it. The I.C. title is in bad shape right now. I think that at least it will draw more attention to the belt with Flair having it for little while then he can drop it back to Carlito or some other younger guy.

I think you all might feel differently in a couple of weeks time. After all the word is that Flair will be fueding with HHH. I think HHH holding he belt could be veiwed as prestigeous and it will also means the young guy he drops to will have an awesome rub.

Flair is one of my favorite wrestlers and one of the all-time best, but he is past his prime and the only way he should retain the title is to cheat like he did last night since you can't have a 56 year old man cleanley beat an up and coming star.
Soon they will have to give the belt to a younger star, especially with NWA-TNA coming to Spike TV on October 1st.

He's saying that back in the day two young stars such as Tripl H and Rock would fight each other and they would both elevate themselves at the same time..

When you have two young prospects they can feed off of each other.

What WWE always gets caught up in now is having one prospect vs. Legend, and the legend is supposed to help the guy get over but also in the meantime ends up making the guy look kinda bad because these legends always need to get the receipt..

Thity7 is saying that guys like Shelton and Carlito should just fight each other instead of being thrown in with the veterans all the time.

I think Flair needs to drop it pretty soon. It does seem that they're trying to bring some prestige back to the IC belt but I dont think they're doing it right. It seems they think that just by saying "This shows how important the IC title is!" and things like that because talking up the title isnt going to do much. When Flair drops it I agree it should be to a younger star.. But pleast not Carlito... the guy still doesnt even have a finisher. I'm probably the only one but i dont see anything in the guy except good promos. I'd give it to Masters and have him go against maybe Conway if they lay off his stupid gimmick. He's really the only guy on the entire Raw roster who has any real potential, everyone else either sucks or could be above the IC title.

what about Benjamin? he isn't above the IC title if you ask me, but a good run of him chasing Conway with plenty of exposure and in ring promo time would make them stars (if conways gimmick either changes or just gets less retarded). There is always this talk that Benjamin can't talk, but I remember him being able to when he was rocking heat and being all about the benjamins. The thing is I can't remember when he has been given time on Raw to speak in the ring. I say give him a good feud with the belt, then a nice run with it, by then he would be able to go up against the champ (whoever it may be, preferably HHH due to their in ring history) agreeing to drop the belt just to get the title shot. HE wins, and a tournament is held for a new IC champ.
