Rep Power: 6 ![]() | I'm wondering after seeing RAW tonight if I can change this thread to "Matt Hardy, wrestling's biggest bitch."
| Get yourself an old wrestling tape. Watch Flair in his prime, Terry Funk, The Road Warriors, Dusty Rhodes, Ricky Steamboat, Barry Windham, The Andersons, Pat Patterson, The Briscoes, and I dare you,... I dare you to try to tell me that WWE is even a remotely good product. Wrestling happened before 1998 and just because you didn't see it does not mean it did not exist. Rep Power: 6 ![]() | I'm wondering if we're all jumping the gun on this whole thing. Yes, I agree with most that Hardy has been booked badly the last two weeks, but I think WWE is trying to get some mileage out of this storyline and judging by what happened on SS and RAW, they're playing up the fact that Matt Hardy "won't die." They're going to have him get pummelled for a while, then when everyone thinks he's down and out for good, he makes his big comeback, possibly scores a win over Edge and is cemented as a top-level talent. Maybe I just am too much of an optimist, but I'm not ready to say Hardy's career in WWE is over just yet. |

Rep Power: 6 ![]() | He played by Vinnie Mac's rules, it was his ballfield. Still, I feel that they have somthing bigger planned for Matt Hardy, if he gets fired again the casual fans will let the WWE have it again. They will never forget what Vince did to him and it will become another "Montreal Screw Job". |

Rep Power: 42 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | They may have something bigger planned (and I think they do), but that doesnt change the fact that they already fucked it up. If they wanted to drag out the feud and not make Matt look like a chump, they shouldn't have had Edge dominate him so easily. I have two ideas which I think would have worked much better 1. Vince McMahon comes out mid-match and nails Matt with a chair. Edge then covers him for the pin. Vince grabs the mic and says "Who the hell do you think you are? You go on the Internet and try to bully me around, and tell me what the fans want to see? I've been running this business for 25 years, I've done just fine without you. Since I had already fired your ass, I couldnt get back at you, but now that I have you under contract, I am going to make your life a living hell. but I'm not going to travel arena-to-arena for a piece of crap like you. Edge here is going to do my dirty work for me" If they had done this, Matt still looks like he's in Edge's league, sinc ehe got screwed out of the match. Plus, it adds an unexpected twist to the storyline, which will help drag it on further. Plus, it adds more to the "shork" aspect of it. 2. Matt and Edge are in an absolutely brutal, no-DQ slugfest. They are both bloodied-up and beaten badly. Matt sets up a ridiculously dangerous spot that is expected to seriously injure Edge (like, a powerbomb off the stage, a la Taker and Hassan). Edge, by the skin of his teeth, manages to avoid the bump, and Matt takes it instead. JR and King emphasize on commentary how lucky Edge was to survive the match, and close-ups of Edge's face show that he knows he almost suffered a terrible "Twist of Fate" This way, Matt's momentum continues, because he was there all along with Edge, and only through luck did Edge escape. Plus, they can sell Matt's injuries for a little while, to drag the feud out, and MAtt can come back in a few weeks and continue tormenting Edge. In the meanwhile, Edge can act paranoid about Hardy. He realizes "Holy shit....this guy seriously wants to hurt me" and he looks over his shoulder coming down to the ring, he walks nervously backstage. This way, you get more mileage out of the feud...which is a money feud.

The first really good idea I have heard about this whole Matt Hardy angle and it was just hanging out there all alone........ It must have been because it took more than 6 seconds to read. D, I have been erally struggling how they can pull this whole thing together and really make it work, but this is really good. They are totally playing off this whole "Matt Hardy will not die" thing. (even giving him a t-shirt with the catchphrase). I have no doubt in my mind that this IS IN FACT a very long term fued. Vince MUST realize that by slowly beating down Hardy, while brutal at the same time, is only building up the anomosity between the casual fan and Edge, while all the girlies and kids feel bad for Hardy. Hardy will come back and get his revenge. If he doesnt then Matt isnt the only stupid one. Remember at the beginning of the year when Edge was being called the most boring wrestler of 2005? I remember that being said on here all the time. Now he is the most over heel in wrestling. Edge knows it. You think he wants this fued to end? Hell no. Its the best he has looked since TLC2000. Mad reps for that great idea D.

Rep Power: 42 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Thank you sir. I dont mean to toot my own horn, but doesnt my idea sound a lot better than "Edge kicks the shit out of Matt Hardy so badly that the match is stopped?" I know what WWE is doing, which is the whole "Matt will not die" thing, which is why I chuckled when I read the "Matt will be unemployed by the end of the year" posts. I just think they started this long-term feud off on the wrong foot. It is salvagable, but they made the situation so much more difficult for themselves than it needed to be

He isnt going to shot himself in the foot to make Hardy look bad. People that post things like "Hardy will be fired by years end" are the same people that were BEGGING for him to come back. I ask this question......... How would this have played out if Matt Hardy and Edge's roles were reversed? Or even if Hardy simply won? The fued would be over essentially. Edge will continue to dominate Hardy for a little while longer. Why does it seem like very few people are picking up on these obvious facts?
