Could Rey Mysterio ever be champion?

I mean, World Champion. I think he certainly has the popularity for it at this time, the SD! fans love him. But how could it ever work? It's just not realistic to have him face guys like Big Show or Undertaker. It's bad enough they make him look as strong as Benoit or Angle, but at least that's not too bad. Those guys aren't 6'10"

There would really be no excuse why the huge guys are being kept away, you'd have to basically burry all the big guys in the mid-card just to give him the belt.

Any thoughts on this? Do you guys think there would be a way to make it work?

No, becuase when the champ is someone that I am taller and bigger than and I know if I had to, I could beat up I will never see them as a beleivable champ.

I know Cena could whup my ass, hes ripped, and Batista of course. Unless they made Mysterio like when Mikey Whipwreck was champ and just have him win fluke victories. But even that only lasted several weeks. Hes just too small.

Get yourself an old wrestling tape. Watch Flair in his prime, Terry Funk, The Road Warriors, Dusty Rhodes, Ricky Steamboat, Barry Windham, The Andersons, Pat Patterson, The Briscoes, and I dare you,... I dare you to try to tell me that WWE is even a remotely good product. Wrestling happened before 1998 and just because you didn't see it does not mean it did not exist. Broaden your horizons people!!!

No, as popular as Mysterio is he just wouldn't be belivable as world champion. Like Steveo said, he is just too small and short, he will have a lot of success in his career but I just don't think a world title reign will be part of it.

Maybe a two week run but not as a long term option.

i know what you mean, but generally just cause someone is ripped dont mean they can whoop your ass.

as for Rey, they could have him hunt for the title and he could have his fluke victories, but when it comes time for the actual match for the belt he could lose and give up all together.....

I think I fluke win for the belt and real short term run would be ok with ppl, especially if he took from someone like JBL.

I think this scenario was suggested a while ago when Jeff Hardy had his title shot, but picture this...

Undertaker wins the title belt, and in a number one contenders match, Rey picks up the win, with a nice high-flying display. The Undertaker is so confidant he can beat Rey, he lets Rey choose the match type, and Rey picks Ladder.

They fight a nice, hard battle, with Rey using his size to his advantage, flipping left, right, & center off ladders. Undertaker finally manages to ground him, and goes for the Last Ride. When he lifts him up, Rey is under the belt, and grabs it, so when 'Taker slams him down, he brings the belt down with him. Rey has one the title, but 'Taker still looks credible. Again, a few fluke victories later, Rey can drop the belt as a transitional champ.

I agree, you would have to put it in a situation such as that. But there have been less believable champs in the past.... eg: Vince McMahon

At least Vinnie Mac only won it with Steve Austin's help, and unlike Vince Russo, Vince McMahon gave up the title the next night.
