Alright. So Cena and Batista are champs.....Now what?

Ok, so at Wrestlemania 21 we saw John Cena beat JBL (who had the title for some 10 months) and Batista defeated HHH for their respective titles.

Now its only 4 months later, and I don't know about you guys but it seems like these two have had the titles forever now.

My question is this....When is a good time for Batista and Cena to lose their titles respectively?

Do these guys have to get screwed out of the titles? Do they lose clean to a face? Clean to a heel? How does it work?

I feel that Cena is main event from here on out. His superstar status is established if you ask me. The 10 year old kids love him and for the next 5-7 years its safe to say they will grow up loving John Cena. He would be alright losing the title in a controversal fashion to Jericho at Summerslam, but we all know thats not going to happen. I believe the WWE is going to leave the title on him for quite a while. I see Cena losing the title at Survivor Series to HHH. Cena wins the Rumble and the chase is on.

Batista on the other hand is 39 years old and safe to say wont be wrestling in 5-7 years. The problem with Batista is that you know he isnt a long term superstar, so you have two options. Have him dominate everyone now, or have him win for a while then put over younger guys.

I just personally dont see the point of having him beat HHH 3 times, beat JBL, then beat JBL again in a NHB match and most likely move onto Christian or Eddie Guerrero for some more ass whoopings.

Ok, So he can squash everyone. Now what?

Talk amongst yourselves. I am going for a donut.

I think it's too soon for either guy to drop their respective belt. Of the two, I think Batista will drop his first, but probably not until Survivor Series. I can see Cena holding the title possibly up to (and possibly through Wrestlemania 22). More than anything, Cena has a lot of mileage that he can get out of his contenders whereas Batista's is more limited. Figuring that most main event feuds are lasting about 2 PPV's now, here's how I see their title reigns playing out:

Cena vs.
Chris Jericho - Summerslam, Unforgiven
Kurt Angle - Taboo Tuesday, Survivor Series
Shawn Michaels - New Year's Revolution, Royal Rumble
Triple H - Wrestlemania 22, Backlash(?)

Batista vs.
JBL - Great American Bash, Summerslam
Eddie Guerrero - No Mercy, Survivor Series
Randy Orton - Armageddon, Royal Rumble

Plus, the wildcard here is Edge, with the "Money In The Bank" contract. Technically, the contract is for a shot at the World Heavyweight Championship. But, as we learned in this year's draft lottery, the titles don't stick to the show they're currently on, so if Edge were to win the belt, I don't know that he'd be on Smackdown then. Plus, I also don't know if he'd be able to challenge for the WWE Championship. So, that's a factor. My guess is that if Orton doesn't take the belt from Batista at the Rumble, Edge will use his MITB contract immediately after their match to capitalize on the opportunity.

I agree that Cena should hold the belt for awhile (and no, actually I'm not joking), I may not exactly love him, but at least he says he's trying to get better and the damn kids do love him. keep the belt on him for several more ppvs or months anyways and then HHH can win it back
(and really, who else right now would be a believable champ (I'd say Carlito in that he's beaten Cena, but he's small and young and newer.) Cena is the most believable champ candidate right now to me.
and it's fun, honestly, as a heel I'm like the mirror version of the babyface fan, I love to hate the babyface, when I go to shows I yell at the ref and at the babyfaces and boo them loudly, telling them to tap.
personally I'd rather see Angle as champ, but Angle's belt time seems to be over, maybe in the future, but it seems that his retirement is always an imminent threat (I hope not b/c I really love Angle)
as for Batista, meh, I watch SD in the sense that it's on my tv and the volume is on, but I'm usually doing something else while it plays around me.
I think a few more months and then maybe a final run for UT or another shot for Orton. I'm not psyched about either, why not unify the belts when HHH wins them back in a 1 on1 or even a 3 way unify the titles match. (yeah, I'm serious, who else is gonna be champ, Matt Hardy? haha)

Nice thread..I'd rep you but I can't. It will come someday.

Now to the topic.

I agree that Cena should keep his title the longest out of the two, he's the star of the future, Batista is getting old. I understand that Dave doesn't have the wear and tear of a regular 40 year old wrestler, but I think he's def. on steroids and he's probably been on them for a while, you never really know what they can do to a man who is in his 40's...Of course, I hope he stays healthy, but you just don't know.

Now, how should each man lose it. Well, I think Cena should probably get screwed out of the title at some point. I keep bringing up the angle of Edge collecting on his Money in the Bank after Cena has already wrestled, I'm just not sure if he can use it now or not, and I'm not sure if Edge is really a main eventer...

However, this would make Cena look super strong. I think he should be kept away from Triple H until Wrestlemania and they should NOT have a match before that. However, Triple H should be the champion going into the match at Mania so Cena can chase...like you said.

So here's what I do..I have Cena defend the belt at a PPV against wrestler A..maybe it's Kane, maybe it's Jericho, whoever it doesn't matter. After the match I have Edge collect on his money in the bank..Cena can't believe he has to defend again, but being as confident as he is he accepts without giving it much thought..He gives Edge a run, but Lita interferes, Matt shows up, chaos ensues, Edge hit Cena with the briefcase and Cena Kicks OUT!! The crowd thought for sure he was done..Couple min. later Edge gets his finisher on Cena and finally gets the win. Cena still comes out of the match looking better than ever because of all the shit he went through but now Edge is the champion...

Now, I'm going to steal an idea from, I think it may have been Bulldog...Triple H comes back as a face while Edge is the champion, how? I don't know, maybe he isn't a face, maybe a tweener, whichever...He comes back and him and Cena have the same rivals so they team up for one night and start to find new respect from each other..Triple H ends up turning on Cena, wins the title and then the chase is on...

I'll think about Batista later.

I think they both need to drop the belts and fast. I would rather see Batista keep his longer though because I just don't like Cena. No reason, I just plain don't like him.

I think Batista should be the one to hold the title longer right now. He's the older so he wont be around as much later on. So give him the big streak as champion and i think he should keep it till mania. Cena I think should lose it soon... he's young so he's got years ahead of him to become a multiple time champ and he's alright in the Main Event and he'll stay there. The way i see it when Batista loses the belt i'd be surprised to see him ever get it back. But when Cena loses it we all know one day he'll win it back.
As for how they'll lose the belts, I think Cena should lose it soon I like the idea Blitz came up with, having Cena already wrestle and then Edge comin out and using the Money in the Bank shot and i think that'd be the best way. But I think Edge is gonna save his shot for Mania. So i'd have Cena lose to Angle real soon, reason being is Cena IS still kinda green in the ring and doesnt have the greatest matches. But Kurt Angle can pull a great match out of almost anybody, so having Angle beat cena and then have them in a few good PPV matches would be good for Cena i think. Then have Cena win it back at the Rumble or something.
And Batista should keep it straight till mania... and even tho i know theres no way it'll happen he should lose it to a face christian. I think the best way to have christain get over is to turn him Face, win the rumble and then face Batista and go over him and have them do the shake hands at the end deal. (of course Christian would actually have to win a match for this to work) But like i said that probably wont happen so have Batista lose it at mania to Randy Orton.

Batista: I think he should hold the title until Wrestlemania where he drops it to....Brock Lesnar. I think that's a money match. Sure, it might be slow, it might be boring, but every now and then you need a good "big guys do a bunch of power moves" match.

I mean, I see no way that he loses to JBL at Summerslam. That leaves him with 4 PPVs to defend his title. There are a few heels that they can throw at him (Eddie, most notably) to bide his time until he faces off against Brock. Actually, I think Batista vs. Orton would be a good match for one of the Big 4, like Survivor Series or the Rumble.

At which point Batista becomes the Kevin Nash for the 21st century. Big guy, started out as a bodyguard/enforcer, good booking got the crowd behind him, one long title reign, and that's it.

Cena: As opposed to Batista, I see Cena as a multi-time World Champion. What I would like to see is Edge use his "Money in the Bank" clause to fight Cena at an upcoming PPV, and then somehow the title makes its way to Kurt Angle's waist. Cena then wins the Rumble, and faces off against Angle at Mania. This makes sense, because who was Cena's first match against? Kurt Angle. And who was the Smackdown GM that Cena drove nuts? Kurt Angle. The history is there, if WWE is smart enough to play it up.

Normally I would say Cena vs. HHH at Mania, but I'm in love with my idea of Flair vs. HHH at WM22

The title has pretty much got him a name so I think he can still main event without a title.( for example Kane, Eddy) Cena needs to face somebody with some credability and have some good matches. I like him facing HHH. I still believe Cena hasent paid them dues. He needs some classics like Orton.

Batista is really 39 is he????? Damn. Well for Batista I think he would have some good matches with Eddy or UT. But look real stupid facing Christian. ( i just dont see what yall see in Christian). I would let him build his legacy and keep the belt off and on throu out his career.
