Well, I don't know the definitive answer either. I know a few people at least had beaten Andre before Hogan did but I've no idea whether they actually pinned him or not as Hogan did.
I think I read that he had a genuine undefeated streak from 77-87 but this may be proved wrong.
As a matter of interest WMIII wasn't the first time Andre wrestled Hogan. They wrestled at Shea Stadium in 1981.
I'm guessing he wasn't really given a World Title shot as, for quite some time, he was a marquee attraction all around the world and didn't by any means just wrestle for WWE, instead he would be bought in for short impact periods. By the time he did wrestle pretty much solely for WWE he was a broken down man and it probably would have just been a sentimental decision to give him the belt again (of course he had it once but probably just for a few minutes!!)

Yeah, he sold it to the Million Dollar Man but Tunney wasn't having it..
Anyway, I just went back and watched the match from WMIII and I think Jesse Ventura said something like, "I've never even seen Andre knocked off his feet"...Of course this could just be one of those things to put over what Hogan was accomplishing..(Damn Hogan!!)...
But I'm really interested in this..Wrestling history is one of my favorite things to discuss.
If Andre really had a streak for 10 years without getting pinned, that would piss on anything Goldberg ever did...haha..

That brings up another point then. Is Goldberg's 140 (or something) streak genuine. I thought it wasn't. Let's face it WCW didn't do a whole bunch of house show business and even then most guys didn't work all the shows. I'd find it hard to believe his streak was genuine. For example, he'd be on 72 one week and then a week later 78. They never ran that many house shows.

That's a good point. I can say this...I did see Goldberg appear on those shows from Orlando from time to time and beat a couple jobbers to keep the streak going..
But if what you say is true about his streak going up by 6 in ONE week, that'd be a little hard for me to believe..
They might have just been quickly to make it look more impressive..(those sneaky bastards!)
Now I'm interested in that as well...haha..
I hope someone comes along and helps me answers these questions.
I believe the Goldberg streak was legit theres a site somewhere with all his wins on, Andre wasnt undfeated in 10 years at Wrestlemania III WWF just said that

That was at the end of his WCW run when Russo came up with the idea that he had to go on another streak to get a Title shot but if he lost then he was fiiiirrrreeeed!!! I think they gave the honour of beating him to Luger & Bagwell in a tag match with that stupid seargent major WCW guy.
Blitz....I think you could be right with how they did it there, by having him beat two or three guys in one night. That would make sense.

I remember they did that on a few occasions and he used to work all the TV shows at one point so it was Nitro, Thunder and also the Satuday night show plus all the clash of the champions

Ok..so we have that settled although, a lot of Goldberg's matches weren't against very good competition. I think the best two guys he beat during the streak was Raven and Scott Hall..Out of 178 or whatever it was..
I do remember a match where he beat Sting onNitro but it was because Hogan interfered..Ayone remember this match? Sting was kicking Goldberg's ass for like 8 minutes and even had Goldberg in the Scorpion Death Lock when Hogan got in..
Anyway, back to Andre....Do we have it confirmed that his streak is bullshit or what? I'm lost with this..
