I'll take a guess because i saw the event that lead to it on royal rumble 92 vid.
Was it something like hart lost to the mountie whilst wrestling with a fever and then piper came out to help hart and piper was beaten down and thats how they met and piper then became champ at the royal rumble??
It was either that or hart wasn't meant to lose the title but the decision was changed during the match.

Bonus 1. Mountie beat Bret Hart, who had "a high fever" then attcked him with the cattle prod. Piper ran in for the save and was blind sided by The Mountie.
Bonus 2. In that match there was supposed to be a fast count in favour of Hogan, then the match be restarted and Sting go over. This happened with the exception of the fast count. A count did happen but it was far from fast. This made the rest of the match look like a farce.
