Rep Power: 6 ![]() | John Cena Ok, now that he is assimilated on Raw it has become obvious (atleast to me) how he is being booked. On the mic, he is like Rock, one-liners, crowd interaction, embarassing the interviewers, etc. His character is becoming Austin-esqe. Anti-authority, anti-establishment, well basically anti-everything. You know the drill badass babyface who doesn't play by the rules. And his matches are formulamatic, he starts with a flurry gets worked over for a heat segment, cue the comeback F-U and its done. So, the question is how would you book Cena: on the mic, as a character, and in the ring? Would you stay the course, or do you feel a total makeover is in need? For my money I'd say bring back the raps, and limit the facials, he is much better as a smartass who keeps a straight face and lets his words speak for themselves. As a character I'd make him less of a crowd-pandering pansy, I understand the whole chain-gang idea, but there's only one hulk-a-mania, brother. And for that matter there's only one Austin, so let us avoid a Austin v. Mcmahon redux. He needs direction but his OWN direction. And as for the ring I'd let him cut it loose on TV bi-weekly make it special when he's in the ring, and rather than make it so by the numbers I'd put him in tag matches(remember those?) with ring generals(HBK, Y2J, Angle, Trips, etc.) to break up the monotony of his matches. They have become so predictable punch punch kick kick five knuckle shuffle weak-ass firemen's carry drop. So that's my take, what's yours? |

One thing I dont get about him is that when he first debuted, he put on some really good matches. I remember his debut against Angle, and his first PPV match against Jericho both being really good. Did he forget how to wrestle in 2 years? My suspicion is that since he is a "rapper from the streets", he adopted a brawling style to fit his character. If that is so, I think he needs to scrap that idea, and use his full arsenal. I also think he needs to stop playing up to the crowd so much. He would be much better as a tweener type, than the goodt-two-shoes he's currently playing Also, does anybody else think it would be cool if he slowly turned while still the champ? Like, he stops being such a "babyface" and starts slowly incorporating more heel tendencies, and getting full of himself as his title reign gets longer? I think that could be cool

Before all is said and done, he'll have at least 5 moves he does every match and his matches will get repetitive. I still like him but just wish wwe would actually let their stars wrestle instead of doing a bunch of moves we've all seen a 1000 times. Give him that 3rd dimension to his character and let them wrestle!
