I just read this from another site, I'm not sure if it's true or not but if it is, it's hilarious. About Batista:

"He tried out at the WCW Power Plant but was told he'd never make it in the wrestling business."

Now he's one of the most over superstars on the WWE Roster and the World Heavyweight Champion to boot.

What other misjudgments of talent or marketability do you recall WCW making?
I wish my sex life was like ECW, first you get a One Night Stand followed by 2 months of nostalgic orgasms and then 6 months of constant sucking.

Paul Heyman didnt seem to have a problem getting Foley over either

In fact, Heyman didnt have a problem getting MOST people over. Hide weaknesses, emphasize strengths. Its really not that hard when you think about it.
