RAW Thoughts for 7/18

The best was HBK's promo was much better than last week, and by better I mean heelish, last week he was trying to hang onto the face that HAD to do it. HBK has to bump the whole match anyway, he should be pretty full blown heel.

Was I the only one who was a mark for HBK's gum when he was talkin to Grisham? Yes, ok.

And the Hardy thing, it's interesting but you had a steel cage out there, so much potential, I think we could have all suspended belief a little bit to give Matt enough time to climb into the cage, THEN have the security swarm, just so he could get a couple shots off maybe?

JV said it very well, We've been spoiled the last few weeks, so this edition of RAW, while not awful by any means, was not up to the high standards we've been getting.

Pros:
Cena is extremely popular and I think WWE has found their next Rock. Time will tell.

The tag champs appeared on RAW for a change, they didn't wrestle, but they were there, even if it was just for Rosey to get choked out.

The fans dig Hogan, and any show where he appears is newsworthy

Edge/Kane was a decent match, but we really need to end this fued. I'm guessing Hardy will be hiding in the ambulance for the stretcher match next week.

Cons:
HBK's reasoning for the turn on Hogan is still stupid. I kicked him so i could have his last match is just dumb.

Snitsky is awful, he is honestly a bad wrestler and doesn't belong in the main event of any show ever.

Like I said the Edge/Kane issue needs to end.

Diva search should be scrapped, its worthless.

The Lumberjack match is worhtless these days, and like alot of people I feel like Cena/Jericho is not worthy of a WWE title match. Should have done that at Vengeance.

Get yourself an old wrestling tape. Watch Flair in his prime, Terry Funk, The Road Warriors, Dusty Rhodes, Ricky Steamboat, Barry Windham, The Andersons, Pat Patterson, The Briscoes, and I dare you,... I dare you to try to tell me that WWE is even a remotely good product. Wrestling happened before 1998 and just because you didn't see it does not mean it did not exist. Broaden your horizons people!!!

Alright time to vent...I really did not enjoy this show very much. Yeah, I guess WWE is allowed to have a bad show now and then, but this was kinda brutal.


Pros:

-Kurt Angle with that Matt guy. This was pretty funny, but if it's going to continue, maybe he should eventually win the gold medal and they can make a whole story out of that.

-Finally Masters gets a feud. I've been waiting forever to see this and I think The Big Show is the best choice they could have made.

-Carlito/Shelton. I like the story that's being told here. Maybe a stipulation can be thrown in and these two cn go at it @ SS and put on a great match.

Cons:

-Cena/Jericho/Eric. Nothing progressed here. I like the feud, but I think they made the match too early because SS is still a while away, and to top it off Cena is being booked like SCSA and I don't like it one bit. Get creative.

-Hogan/HBK. Hogan just being there wasn't enough for me. This heel turn was a great idea to start off with, but I really don't like what HBK is doing with it, and his reason still sucks.

-Diva Search. I didn't mind previous weeks but this week was hella boring. Who cares who they want gone? Oh well..at least Simona got the boot cuz she really didn't belong here.

-Where the hell is Flair? I know Triple H is taking time off but I'd still love to see the Nature Boy on the show in some capacity.

-Kane/Edge/Hardy. First of all they really need to get Kane out of the way. It makes no sense why he's still involved. Second, the Matt run-in was predictabole and too much like last week. I still love the storyline, but WWE needs to get a little creative now until SS. I don't want to see another Matt run-in next week unless it's different in some way.

Overall I give this week a 2.5 out of 5...Just a boring show.

Pros: Like Steveo said, Hogan is still ridiculously over, and I still get a little nostalgic seeing him out there. Also, I think these weak excuses that HBK are making are just a front, and eventually its gonna be revealed that he was jealous of Hogan. He could even say that no matter how many ladders he fell off of, or tables he went through, or times he got bloodied up, the crowd still loves Hogan more than him, and it drives him crazy

Shelton/Carlito. Shelton is currently my second favorite in-ring performer on Raw, after Kurt. And he's in a good feud, with a good character who can carry the non-wrestling portions of the feud

Edge/Kane was a good match. And Kane looks absolutely evil with blood covering his face

Cena is ridiculously over, like steveo said, and it's always more fun to watch when the crowd really loves someone

I love how the Kurt Invitational is going. I love how this guy keeps coming out week after week, with a slightly different name, and saying he's from the city where they are. It's clever, and it's a good way to play off a real-life situation

Big Show interrupting the Masterlock Challenge. I gotta admit, even I "marked out" a little bit when show's music hit

Cons

Snitsky in the main event. I think he's entertaining, just because he's so goofy, but still...I really dont need to see him wrestle, especially not at 11 p.m.

Diva Search. Yeah, I'm getting tired of this already

The Hardy run-in. Much more blah this week. I think they need to find more ways for Matt to sabotage the show, and not just hop the barrier to get to Edge

pros: HBK, i liked what he said about Hogan has never been pushed, so now he will be pushed like never before. I like when they bring back a little bit of the past in these promo's to make the match seem that much more important.

Kurt Angle, Heel or Face? WWE needs to decide. The guy is getting face pops then goes into heel mode...???

Kane, Well booked in the match with Edge. He was made to look like the monster that he really is. I liked that match.

Cena v Stinksy. Good match that made Cena look strong.


Cons: HBK? Still a stupid reason just to get Hogan into One Last Match.. All he had to do was ask. He does he "heel" thing well then he tries to get some of his "babyface" back.. too much flip flop

Lumberjacks, a total waste of time. Cena and Snitsky work well but the lumberjacks just made the match a total mess.

Raw Diva's .... total trash and waste of t.v time.

ICEMAN

Pros:
-Angle's Hometown Hero challenge was entertaining for the second week in a row. I didn't like the segment on SD! but it's improved since he moved to RAW, maybe it has something to do with the live T.V. format.

-Cena continues to resonate with the fans and I thought he and Snitsky had a pretty decent match. I was expecting a lot worse.

-Hogan/HBK promo was good and HBK showed more heel tendencies this week, which is good.

-Edge/Kane was a damn good match for free television.

-Edge's promo before the match was good, first time in a while he's showed some fire and emotion.

Cons:
-The lumberjack idea is played out.

-Diva Search. I hope WWE heard those boring chants.

-The Matt Hardy run-in this week could've been better if it was done either during the Edge/Kane match or right after Edge won.

-Tag Champs continued to get buried, this time Rosey looks weak falling prey to the Masterlock.

I found RAW to be average overall. Nothing terrible (except Diva Search) and nothing great.

ok, does anyone really believe this is Hogan's last match? maybe HBK should be saying I wanted his last match during this run of Hogan's pushing the 1st season of his new show. (I figure that a 2nd and so on season will lead to a second and so on run to push those new seasons so....)
on a side note, lumber jack matches are probably my favorite gimmick matches, or at least they used to be back when the lumberjacks actually did something. this weeks was better that the ones they've had over the past few years where the lumberjacks do little to nothing or even help the guy back into the ring. I know they had a 10 second time limit to get Cena back in the ring this time- but why would the heels care about that? oh well. I actually thought the match was pretty decent, more should've been the midpoint of the show though than the main event.
and as I've said, that damn Cena is starting to improve in the ring. total hell. now he'll be on forever- but he is not as smooth as the Rock and he is not as 'who gives a damn' as stone cold.
