Thread Ok..we don't do a lot of SD! talk in here and for the most part there hasn't been a reason to talk about SD! over the last year. However, with the draft now complete I thought this would be a good time to discuss all things SD! related..We already discussed The Mexicools and most agreed that the gimmick sucks, and we discussed a possibility of an ECW return which may happen in moderation, but won't be a brand change most likely with RVD now on RAW. So....what are your thoughts on the brand as a whole now? Here's what they lost: John Cena-Big star now, can't deny that.. Kurt Angle-Still the best wrestler in the company.. Carlito-Rising Heel.. RVD-Injured, so who knows? The Big Show-Will be a mid-carder on RAW.. Here's what they gained: Muhammad Hassan-Was a rising heel, but stock is falling.. Chris Benoit-2nd best wrestler in the company but half the charisma of Angle. Randy Orton-Could still be a huge star if healthy.. Christian-Could be a main event Heel on the brand.. Batista-In the short term is way over, but won't have the long-term success of Cena.. I'm interested in what you guys think about who should be pushed up the card, who should fall down the card, what feuds they should have etc..basically where SD! should go from here with the show.

What they need to do is make guys like Christian and Muhammad Hassan look like genuine threats to guys like Benoit and Batista I also think they need to bring back the Dudleyz and have them feud with MNM...or, have MNM continually try to duck the Dudleyz, until they finally are forced to face them at Mania next year. Either way, the Dudleyz should inject some life into the tag division. They could use guys like Haas and Holly to hold the division over until the Dudleyz finally get to MNM

For all the shit I talk about SD! , I still want to see this show get good again, because I have to watch it sometimes on Thursday and I want good TV. Anyway, Mister D is right about Hassan and Christian. The problem is that WWE still thinks JBL should be the top heel on the show. It's bullshit. He had his run and he needs to move out of the way. He's not Triple H, not even close, but yet he's being treated like that lately with all the main events and shit. As much as I hate Batista, he really needs to go over JBL in their program or this show will be back to square one. The show needs fresh faces in the main events and if it has to be Batista than so be it. I don't think Hassan is quite ready for the big time, so maybe a U.S. Title run for him would work. I don't care what anyone says about Captain Charisma, the guy is ready to main event as we speak. He has the mic skills, the wrestling skills, he's paid his dues and all that shit...it's time. Yeah, on RAW it may not have worked, but SD! is the lesser show so why not give it a try? I said before that Christian should fight Booker first and beat him, and then he can move on to maybe Benoit, and then he should finally be ready to carry the strap and give it a try.. As far as the cruisers...so much for that div. Jackie's right, they could have done something like WCW did with the little guys, but instead we get the MexiTools (good workers, but gimmick is beyond bad) and then they fire some guys like Akio and Shannon, who weren't great but at least added depth to the div. That's all for now...I'll be back to rant about SD! some more tomorrow.

Sure he's not the best worker, but he's improved and doesn't look terrible like other big men in WWE (Snitsky, Tomko etc.). We all know Batista isn't the youngest guy on the block (39) but he's captured the fans' attention and should be able to run with it for the next 2-3 years. Chris Benoit is Chris Benoit. A great worker who can make anyone look halfway decent. He's not charismatic, but he's intense, which a lot of people like. I'd still like to see him turn heel and work a program with Batista in the future, though. Randy Orton is a guy that when healthy, is one of the top heels in the company. WWE recognized their mistake and will likely wait a long time, if ever, before turning him face again. Orton can work and is good on the mic. He's young and will only continue to improve. He's set up to be on the top of SD!'s card for the next 6 months if he stays healthy. Christian is great, but he needs to start winning some damn matches. JBL has grown on me. I don't mind him at the top of the card, but agree that he shouldn't be in every SD! main event. Undertaker is a legend who can still go and I like that he's not used on TV every week. Eddie and Rey both can still entertain and their feud has been great so far, at least to me. Booker T is another solid vet who's slowly gotten the crowd back on his side. SD! has some good young talent in OJ (Heidenreich match aside, the guy is pretty good in the ring), Doug Basham, Hassan, Daivari and MNM (Melina is friggin hot). The main neg. to SD! is they have yet to establish a good cruiserweight division. They have guys who can put on great matches and could be highlighted in 1-2 matches each week on SD! Instead they have the Mexicools run-in and bury the Cruiserweight champ 2 weeks in a row. Other neg.'s are big guys like Heidenreich and Matt Morgan can't work and bring little to the table. Same with Charlie Haas (I like Haas but he has no charisma) and Hardcore Holly (he's basically a jobber now). SD! can be good, but it's up to the writers to come up with good storylines and up to the wrestlers to go out and have good matches. I don't have much confidence in the writing staff so unfortunatey I think we'll be stuck with bad storylines and good-to-great matches. |
