Is Jerry "The King" Lawler a racist??

Has anyone else ever noticed that when Shelton Benjamin or Booker T would have matches on Raw, the King would make either subtle or flat out obvious digs at their backgrounds?

He would say stuff like "Oh Booker belongs back in jail" or "Shelton came from a very questionable neighborhood"


Maybe I am the only one that notices this, maybe we have talked about this before. I just can't stomach him and to me it reaks of blatant racism.

It just seems that King will call out anything that really happened to the black wrestlers in the WWE, but will not even acknowledge anything wrong that any of the white guys did.


I really just think he sucks, so maybe I am going a bit overboard here.

Yeah, I think he is racist. I mentioned it once after he said something esp insulting about Shelton and someone pointed out that he's Southern so what do I expect.
Well, I expect him to keep it to himself or joke off air, not say that shit on RAW.

In all fairness to The King, WWE brought up their past first and made it a point of mention. King however harps on it too much even after it has been mentioned. It was noted in the past of several white guys pasts and King only made it seem like a good thing. They were a heel at the time though.

I grew up in California but my parents are from the South and I have a very deep Southern accent.

he has also made derogatory remarks towards the indian culture, making jokes about the turban, calling them new york cab drivers......


while I laugh it off, it does make me think that lawler is an ignorant idiot.

Totally. There's nothing in Shelton's character that warrants Lawler calling his background, "Questionable." However in Booker's case, it was a focal point of the fued. So, I think he has racial prejudice tendancies, but a lot has to do with what WWE give him.

I wish my sex life was like ECW, first you get a One Night Stand followed by 2 months of nostalgic orgasms and then 6 months of constant sucking.

Yeah I notice that too..but I guess Lawler plays a bit of a heelish commentator sometimes...like he sometimes cheer for the Heels and bash the Face..because..i don't recall him say anything racist toward D-Von Dudley or the GodFather (but i could be wrong n forgetful)
