HHH's character needs to change

Ok so I have been reading a lot of Kane and Edge makeover threads, and it dawned on me that the person who needs to change the most is HHH. I have hated every moment he had been on TV (as have many) except for when he sighted gimmick infringement this week, that was great and it got me thinking. Now despite my statement of hatred, I really do recognize HHH's skills, he's great on the stick, he can wrestle like a motherfucker and he is a bonafied main eventer.

So........how can he be made enjoyable? I want to hear suggestions of character, storylines the usual.

and please avoid the he should quit or get injured cause thats just not an answer.

I think he needs to actually have a fued that does not involve any championship gold whatsoever. I'm probably his biggest fan and I seriously see no one who can carry the company as its champion, but if they insist on having Batista as champ, I say have HHH fight Jericho or Angle now or something. Its not that his character needs to change, his fueds need to change. I really don't know who is looking foreward to the Hell in the Cell match, we've seen him fight Batista twice now and the only difference here will be more blood and a big cage. The matches between them have kinda sucked up to this point.

Hmmm....I dont really know

i think his character is so well-established, it would be difficult to give him a dramatic change. I'll try to think of something, but its pretty difficult

Ya, maybe that is the whole problem. There is so little they could do with him and have him stay true to himself that he just gets more and more over the top hoping he will evolve into something else? I really can't think of anything that would work well. I will have to give it some thought,

Well, I think a story line where HHH lost his next title match, lost another one, and another one and then he quits. And then they do this thing where HHH just kinda sits at home sulking. Meanwhile, Edge, or someother heel takes his spot, and wins the belt, and kinda begins to act like HHH. Saying how he is the best, and no one can beat him and all that jazz. Runs through people with sledgehammers and stuff. And then in the ultimate act of violence assults Flair. Basically this goes on for several months. We get the occasional interview with HHH and J.R. and then J.R. finally brings up what Edge has been doing in HHHs absence. HHH just kinda says something like "Oh, He's taken the ball and run with it." Well then people begin to tell Edge that he cannot really call himself champ until he beats the 11 or 12 time champion, which he has not done. So then Edge begins to call out HHH on a regular basis and HHH never shows. Then Edge begins calling HHH a coward or something, and that goes on for a bit. Kinda like when Austin was calling out Bret Hart all the time. Then finally Edge is on the cusp of some huge victory over like HBK and HHH finally runs out and smashes Edge with a sledgehammer. HHH now has his fire back, he is a face, and he seems fresh because he has been out for like 4 or 5 months. It would require one of those fake wrestling retirements we all hate but it do wonders for the product. Another heel could establish himself at the top, and it would give us a much deserved break from HHH. It would also make HHH a face which has rarely been the case.

^ That's a pretty damn good idea Steveo. But remember, Triple H just "quit" a month ago and as we all saw, he could only stay away for a week. That could've been a good storyline; have Triple H stay home for a month or so, thereby letting Batista face some new opponents; then Triple H returns and attacks Batista to set up one final match, which could've been at SummerSlam.

Triple H's character is fine, he just needs to stay out of the World Title picture for a 6 months and have some really good non-title feuds with guys like Angle.

I don't think having him out for a while or turning him face would be anywhere near enough. Both have been done and he is still the same.

Character wise, I don't think anything can be done. He's Triple H, you either love him the way he is or you don't. Nobody would say that Hogan, Rock, Austin, etc. would need a character change. Personally, I hate Hogan's character and wish he never showed his face on tv again, but that's just me. My point is, when a guy has so much success as being one thing, it's very difficult to change him even if the character has gotten a little stale or in Hogan's case REALLY stale.

I think the only thing that can happen is that he faces different people and they try and build interesting feuds that have nothing to do with the title, like the whole Austin getting ran over thing, or the Shawn Michaels attack. Those were great feuds and had nothing to do with a championship. I could see a really interesting feud down the line between Angle and Triple H and there is no way that would need a title. Those two could go at it for a few months easy, and it would be highly entertaining.

Ya, I think it is the title thing that is most annoying. For once to see him in a fued that didn't involve the title or revenge on someone or him getting his own way.

We've been all saying this for a while, but seems no matter how much we point it out, it falls on deaf ears. Trips' character won't change, no matter how much we want it to... He'll always be the "whining, snivelling, sledgehammer-wielding maniac with compensation issues." To be honest, I've just learned to turn him off, mute him, or just do some channel surfing. B/c afterall he knows what "good characterization is" - NOT!!!!
