Let's hug it out bitch.
| The Triple H appreciation thread. I am currently watching a DVD featuring Cactus Jack vs. HHH at the 01 RR Street Fight. Man. Triple H and Mick Foley had the match of their lives. I truely believe this was Triple H's defining moment. Discuss Triple H. | |

| On the negative side, I think he's become quite the hypocrite. Remember him complaining about the "glass ceiling" and being punished because of the Klik and MSG in 96 (or thereabouts)? Now he's installed his own personal glass ceiling and is so protective of his position he's pulling another Hogan. On the plus side, the guy busted his rear end to become one of the all-time greats. I remember back in '99 the guy could barely speak on the stick if he wasn't screaming "SUCK IT!". I was at the RAW where he first started referring to himself as The Game and remember coming away really impressed with how good of a promo that was. He got better in leaps and bounds every week, and there were times when he really did carry the fed. The match where he tore his quad and not only finished the match but took the Walls of Jericho on a table with the injury is legendary in my eyes. I think he is really a good worker and probably a good guy, but unless he can control his ego he's going to be remembered for holding more guys back than he put over. | |||||||||||||||

| Aside from whether or not he has held anyone back over the last few years, when you look at Triple H you see everything that a WWE performer should want to be. As PP2 mentioned, the promos with Mick were amazing, and then topped by the matches they had. Think back to the verbal spats with The Rock and Kurt Angle. Think back to the feud with HBK. I mean, this guy has had one hell of a career. I'm not sure I can call the match at RR his defining moment, but think about this. How many guys can you sit there and say, "Wow, that was a career match for him". Triple H has had numerous career matches. From the ones discussed with Foley, to Rock in the Iron Man Match at JD, to the Three Stages of Hell with Austin, to his feud with Angle, and the amazing street fight with HBK and also the first Elimiantion Chamber Match at Survivor Series where he had to work injured the whole time after taking the blow from RVD. I could go on and on about his in-ring work. The most impressive thing about The Game to me, is that with all the matches I listed he's better known as a great Promo man than he is a wrestler. Is there something the guy could NOT do in his career? To me, Triple H is now UNDERRATED because of his role in the company leaving a bad taste in everyone's mouth. I will miss him when he's gone because a wrestler of his caliber doesn't come along very often. | |||||||||||||||

| I don't know if I fully agree with the term underrated being applied to him, but I do see your point. Once he's gone there WILL be a big void to fill, and I for one am in no hurry to see him go. I am, however, desperate to see him start taking a back seat to the title picture. I don't think people will start taking other champions serious or get behind them fully since they know its just a matter of time (usually a short time) until Trips has the belt again. All WWE title storylines revolve around him, one way or the other, and its really gotten old. Once we all can be certain that anyone holding the belt isn't just keeping it warm for Trips, then that's when the WWE will begin to grow again. Guys like 'Taker, Angle, HBK...they've all been able to step back and see that its not about just them. Like I mentioned, I am a big fan of HHH. You don't need to have the belt to be interesting though, just listen to the crowd reaction for guys like Jericho and Christian. | |||||||||||||||

| I defended Triple H here to the end because I for one thought he was given a raw deal. I would hear people say things like they can't wait until he retires, which to me is absurd. I also heard everyone say that he needs to step back away from the title picture for a while. At the time I didn't agree because I really didn't think there was a heel in the business or even a face on RAW that could fill his shoes. Now, I can say it's time to step back for him. It's not time for him to start putting over Hurricane & Rosey like some would believe, but it is time to see other faces in main events with the new and improved RAW roster. If WWE hadn't of beefed up the show as much as they had, my opinion would have stayed the same that Triple H is the only viable option, but now that the roster has more depth than ever, I'd love to see Triple H go and feud with a rising star like Shelton Benajamin, who could use a good rub with all the potential he has. | |||||||||||||||

| Yeah, exactly. Have him put over guys like Benjamin and Hassan. Why not? It just prolongs Trips' career if the business is growing, and its not like losing to these guys would really hurt him. He's HHH, after all. Remember Jericho putting over Cena a few years back when Cena was a rookie? Like Cena or hate him, it helped him get to where he is today. HHH could do that for guys too. I know he put over Benjamin when Shelton first came to RAW, but that was more like a fluke. Benjamin should administer a solid beating to him on a PPV. | |||||||||||||||

| Flair has said that it's 16 in all of his promos after the last few years, but from every site I've read there is a different number attached to him based on controversial finishes and the demise of WCW where everyone held the title for 30 seconds. It'd be nice to know the truth on that one.. | |||||||||||||||
