Does Edge have the skills that it takes to be...

World Champion? I've done some looking over the net on other places and I seem to run into a lot of people who think this is Edge's time. I have my own opinion but I want to hear what some of you think about him..

And relax, I know we have had Edge threads before, but I want this to be serious. I want some explanation either way of what you guys think of this character.

What I think of the man a side, I think Edge has all the tools to be world champion.
Before that can happen though, I think he needs a serious make over. He hasnt changed his ring gear since his first match.
I also think his character sucks. The guy has a ton of charisma, but isnt allowed to use it because he's always in god awful angles, like this one with lita at the moment. That being said, that has nothing to do with Edge.
I think his in ring work is top notch most of the time, he's no Benoit, but he has a good move set, including a nice finisher, a credible submission and a few near fall moves.
In short, with a bit of character development and higher standards when it comes to women, Edge could be a good champ.

His in ring work is good enough, although it is a worry that he lacks the ability to carry anyone to a match. His matches with good performers are usually very good but his recent in ring performances against Kane and Batista who are at least reasonable big men, have been poor.

His look is okay although I would have preferred some change in recent times since essentially he looks exactly the same as his debut about seven years ago.

His mic skills are okay too although the angles he's had recently (angry man always cheated, followed now by sleazy man) have been pretty brutal.

He may well get a run with the title. Vince likes a heel champion and may want to look at someone different to the son in law. As with anyone, if he does get a chance I hope he's given the opportunity to run with it for a while.

If I were Edge and I knew that I would be winning the Title I would have Edge win and then have him come out the next night with a new look. Perhaps even short hair would be enough. And drop that pleather jacket look.


Personally, I think Edge has enough going for him ala Lita/Kane angle and his Money in the Bank briefcase that giving him the title now would be a major mistake.

What would be ideal is the title get's vacated somehow and Edge and Christian eventually face off for the title. But I am thinking WM22 for that one, not anytime soon.

Let Batista run with it for a little while. You could also have HHH win it again for a little bit. After all, he needs 7 more to pass Flair and we all know thats his overall goal.

I always said that Edge has what it takes to carry the company. He was stuck in the middle for a long time, but now he has to restablish himself as a major player. I also think he needs to be the main focus of RAW or SD. WWE needs to move HHH down, and let the fans decide what to do with Edge, just like how they did with Batista, and now Christian. For a long time Edge was made to look like a joke, and not taken seriously, he needs to change all that about himself.

I think Edge has the ability to be a World Champion. He does need to update his look. He's at least updated his music, so that's a start. I like the pairing with Lita, although I could do without the makeout sessions every week. I think Edge has good heel mannerisms and if he could somehow adopt some more smart-ass remarks into his promos, he'd be golden.

I don't know when Edge will get a shot, but it will happen sometime this year as he has a guaranteed title match. Who knows if he'll actually win the title on his first try, but I can see him holding the strap, even if its short-term, sometime in the next 1-2 years.

Can Edge be world champ? Hell yes!! If the past year or two has shown us anything its that anyone can be world champ. Bradshaw, Orton, and now Batista. Jobbers can go to main eventing, great midcard heels can be champ and become wussy main event faces and have their creers destroyed, and talentless big men who sweat alot can become talentless big sweaty guys with a world title. If they can do it Edge certainly can.
