Personal thoughts - Pros Joey Styles and Foley on commentary. Made such a great change listening to someone call moves and talk about competitors history instead of talking about something that happened earlier or will happen later all the time. When WWE do this they're basically telling you "whats happening at the moment is completely unimportant". Styles rules. Storm was a tiny bit off his usual pace (only to be expected) but it was great to see him back in the ring. How WWE didn't see anything in this guy compared to others that get pushed there is amazing. Good bit of nostalgia to see Impact Players back in the ring together and nice to see crowd reaction to Jericho too. They've done better with longer in the past but the Cruiser 3 way was very exciting too. Super Crazy came over as the stand out performer which, since WWE have apparently signed him, is probably as it should be. RVD promo was cool to see. Good reminder of what he is capable of and made me chuckle to hear him say it's nice to be able to say more than "cool" or "whatever". Awesome & Tanaka. Agreed with pretty much everyone else here, this was fantastic. My personal fave match. Those who saw them go at it five years ago were probably, like me, not expecting them to be able to come close to what they used to do. The fact that they did made it very special. Interesting to see people are saying Awesome should be signed. When he first went to WWE a few years back wasn't he de-pushed almost immediately because 'Taker allegedly said Awesome couldn't work a match? That could be interesting if he returns then. Having said that huge props to Tanaka (maybe more so) because although it's Awesome looking great out there, it's Masato's bumping that is helping him look so fantastic. Can't think of too many Smackdown or Raw guys that will allow Awesome to throw them around like a rag doll like that. Paul Heyman's promo was excellent too. Enjoyed his comments to JBL, very watchable!!! Taz choking out Angle!! Cons Okay I'll be controversial, Benoit & Eddie's match left me a little blah. Just couldn't really get into this, maybe because we see them both so much anyway....I don't know. Match just didn't spark with me like these two usually do. The whole invasion thing was just annoying. I don't have a problem with WWE guys being there, but it just took up so much time on the PPV with their slow arrivals and their mic spots, and the stupid thing with the Bischoff beat down at the end (yes Vince we get it...he used to beat you and you like embarassing him now). I was also very lukewarm toward the whole SCSA thing. The guy was in ECW for about twenty five seconds and was recovering from injury pretty much throughout the short time he was there. To have him show up at the end wasn't too bad a thing, but to give him loads of mic time and concentrate the camera on him for so much of the last fifteen minutes or so was just meaningless for me. Everything else on the show was also damn good, but not good enough to get in my "pros"!! Edit....In addition to the other Pro's I got to see my first wrestling fantasy object Beulah again, mmmmmmmmm!!!

Rep Power: 6 ![]() | I thought the show was awesome. It's hard to believe that there won't be some bruised WWE egos after that one as it got pretty personal at a few stages. I'd never seen any ECW PPV's before and I was just blown away. Tommy Dreamer is fucking cool. I think aside from all the pops for the ECW guys, Kurt Angle deserves a big round of applause. I mean, this guy is just so unselfish. He took ALOT of heat (granted, so did JBL, Edge and Bischoff) but then not only did he "lead" a pack of WWE guys against an extremely hostile ECW crowd, but he also allowed himself to be choked out by an out of shape, washed-up WWE color commentator. I just think it epitomises him as a worker and reminds me of just how brilliant he has been over the last few years. He's a deadset champ and I hope he gets another title run as a face so he can experience the adoration from fans he deserves. |

It's too bad his late start in the business and injury problems slowed him down, or he couldve gone down as one of the all-time greats (Flair/Hogan/Rock/Austin level)

Rep Power: 5 ![]() ![]() | I actually taped this and watched it last night which made it the first PPV for the Genius since WM20. Some thoughts would be 1.) Wrestling PPVs work better when its just about the match, sod all the storylines and crap thats good for Raw and Smackdown, at the PPVs let the men wrestle. They did this on ONS and it made it much more interesting and enjoyable because you don't have Micheal Cole or Jr going.'Rmember six months ago on Smackdown when JBL ran over Benoits dog..etc.etc.etc. 2.) Mick Foley and Joey Styles was an inspired choice to do the commentary especially seeing as they just told it like it was for most of them and there was no mention of puppies or HLA or any of that crap 3.) No women wrestling...always a good thing. 4.) Men who can wrestle as well as entertain. I think Joey Styles said if you wanna watch body builders wreslte watch Raw..if you wanna watch wrestling watch ECW. Sounds about right to me. 5.) I've never seen Super Crazy before he was pretty cool. 6.) The only thing I didn;t like was I thought the ending was a bit of an anti climax and although it was obvious it would have been nice if the WWE wrestlers just sat there and took some shit instead of having to get into the ring. 7.) Heyman was funny as hell. I wonder whats next for him???? 8.) No HHH always a good good good thing. |
