Raw Thoughts for June 6th 2004. Lottery Draft

I havent seen it yet, but I know Cena is the first pick.

That is a good pick. Cena will be able to let loose on cable TV, hopefully he turns heel soon.

I will post my thoughts after I watch it. I am looking for to seeing it this week.

I was flipping between the Yankee game, Heat/Pistons Game 7, and Raw, so i missed most of the show...I did see both Cena appearances, and the ECW thing at the end. So, what i saw, I loved

I saw a little of Chris Masters too, and I thought his match was decent

Cena being the first pick was a shock ... I expected a big name but thought for sure both champs would be staying put. I wonder if the low ratings the last 2 weeks had anything to do with the move? Anyway, I like Cena on RAW, it freshens up his character. Now's the chance for WWE to see if Cena can be the top guy, as long as Triple H doesn't cut off his legs.

It would appear that either Triple H or Batista is going to Smackdown. My guess is that it will be Triple H. He probably feels that he can single-handedly save the show, so he will move to Smackdown and proceed to beat all of the top-level guys on the roster for the next 12 months.

Besides Cena, the rest of RAW was weak, with the exception of the final segment.

I know people think it will be Christian-Cena at Vengeance, but I smell a Y2J heel turn in next week's tag match, setting up Y2J-Cena at Vengeance.

I am doing my live review as I watch this..........

What a pop for Cena. This is pretty cool. Although for some reason I dont see this lasting. Cena will get traded back to SD I reckon.

Jericho is kicking ass in this quasi heel role.

On a side note, why the freak dont champs wear the belts around their waists.

YES !!!!!!!!!!!!! Christian !!!!!!!

haha, king says "Didnt take long for someone to get some" One good line in 3 months.

Oh Snap, picking on McGwire in STL.

Haha, talking about the Brood. These Cena raps already are 10X's better. "You went from swallowing blood to blowing kazoos." Y2J yelling "Burn" haha. this is funny shit.

I like how Cena launches his 200 dollar shit into the crowd. That's cool.

Jared may have lost all that weight eating Subway, but he is still an ugly MF'er.

The Hearthrows with Victoria is a really good idea. But I just dont care for the actual look of that one dude with the blonde hair. (antionio)

Why would Christy come out with Hurricane and Rosey? They should have just had Stacy get attacked last week. Dur......

Am I a dickhead for TOTALLY LOVING Edge since WM21? Him and Christian are my two favorites on Raw currently.

Holy Hot Lita Batman !!!.

I LOVE that shirt. She looks so yummy.

Why is Snitsky in a hardcore ECW match ? Did I miss something?

Dudleys......nice.

The ending was so predictable, but as JV has stated in the past, even obvious angles can still be extremely enjoyable as last nights was.

Couple observations.....

What that the dude from The Nasty Boys, Brian Nobbs?

Also I didnt really recognize another dude?

They should have had Lance Storm, Justin Credible and Mike Awesome in there if they could.

All in all another very enjoyable episode of Raw and it more than likely put me in the "yes" category for buying the PPV.

was victoria just making heel faces? or did anyone else think she actually looked pissed to be w/ the heartthrobs?
and I too am confused about Christy w/ Rosey and Hurricane. I guess they just have to use her so might as well hide her in a tag team.
Victoria beating up Hurricane was funny.

Pros: 1. Hour #1

2. Cena, he can finally say whatever he hell he wants to now w/o being restricted on SD.
3. Christian, i actually wanted him to beat the hell outa SeeNa. He really came over well.
4. HHH: HHH'S promo on Batista, it was well delivered, and the words were very strong and to the point. He did a good job in selling the HIAC match as something important.

Cons:
1. Batista: his promo on HHH was weak. He looked a little lost out there and really couldn't match HHH word for word.
2. Hour#2
3. Raw Diva's

Cena was a great pick as far as starting the draft off with a strong name. It doesn’t get much stronger then the Smackdown champion and it sells the idea that we can expect anything in the draft.

That being said, and assuming he won’t be traded back to Smackdown before the draft is over, I have a feeling his big reception will not last. For one thing on the weaker Smackdown roster Cena was big news. Now on Raw he is among much bigger company, which once the hype of his being traded wares off will be less and less of a big deal.

Also lets face it in Raw a main event push means you get to feud with Triple H for one to five months before being forgotten and buried in the midcard IC title division. If Triple H stays on Smackdown I predict Cena will get a feud with Triple H, likely once the Batista/HHH feud ends. It will last a while and maybe even have some good wins for Cena against Trips. Then he will lose the final payoff match and end up never again getting such a high profile program.

I am not trying to be a conspiracy theorist. But in the last few years we have seen the same thing happen to Jerrico, Steiner, Benoit and probably someone else I forgot, and I am expecting it to happen to Batista once Triple H eventually beats him. Orton avoided that fate so far, but he also ended up injured and his ready made feud with Batista is only a main event feud if Batista is still a top tier guy by that time. And it is far from certain he will be.

I really think six months from now we will be remembering Cena’s jump to Raw as the beginning of the end for his main event push.

Of course maybe Cena will get lucky and Trips will get the World Title and move to Smackdown and have “build them up then tear them down” feuds with the top tier of Smackdown. But somehow I doubt it.

On one last note while I get they had to move a top tier guy to Raw for the initial draft pick, I hope they plan some good draft picks for Smackdown. Beacause Smackdown needs Cena a lot more then Raw does. And if they aren't planning to compensate then Smackdown will be in a world of trouble.
