Speaking of his ECW character, it just goes to show how great Paul Heyman was at using the talent at his disposal, especially when compared to the current crop of WWE writers

Heyman realized that RVD's glaring weakness was his stoner personality. Because of this, he could never come across as a tough guy. So, they never had RVD cut angry promos or anything like that (well, at least not later in his career...they did it a little early on and they were brutal). So they developed a cool, ****y, laid-back persona for him and guess what? It worked!!! Basically, he was Batista's current character, without the intimidating size.

He was ****y, but not in the Randy Orton heel kinda ****y. He didnt come across as the jock in high school that took people's lunch money and dated the head cheerleader. He was like the cool, friendly guy that everyone wanted to be friends with.

THAT is what he should be like in WWE. Cool and laid-back to the point that it drives the heel he's feuding with nuts. Remember in ECW how he used to go out to the crowd in the middle of his matches and slap fives and do the thumb-pointing and stuff, meanwhile the heel would be in the ring pissed off as hell? THAT is the kinda stuff they got to do with RVD. He's gotta be the guy who's ****y because he knows he's good

Some new ring gear wouldnt hurt either...Does anyobdy else think a martial-arts type outfit (similar to what Tajiri wears, or Steamboat used to wear) would work well?

I say cut the hair to something similar to Christians now.

Have him wear like black Adidas running pants and a black tanktop.

Use his stoner approach and just have him be a nasty MF'er in the ring. Give him the hardcore title and let him run with it.

Give him a pimp style manager as well.

If they don't revamp his gimmick or do something with him, he'll stay in creative limbo and with him or w/out him on a show, he won't be missed.

I agree that a heel turn would do him wonders, but to that effect asside from some heel attire, there's really nothing he needs to change about him.

I dont think RVD would be an effective heel...it's like my friend once said "RVD could take a shit on the American flag and rub it in the Pope's face and people still wont boo him"

He's a stoner, they should make that his gimmick. He could come out with a bong and smoke could suurpund the ring during his entrance. Finishing move could be the "spaced out fly high" (frog splash)
