Rep Power: 7 ![]() | Buying PPVs... So, you go and buy something from the store and the quality wasnt up to standard.. you are well within your rights to take it back to the store and get a refund. Where do you stand if you pay for a product that was of poor quality on PPV? Are there any entitlements or rights at all for the consumer in the PPV market? Something like Boxing is fair enough.. you can pay for a PPV and the match can only last 1 round or something. But its a real sport and its to be expected. But with something like wrestling we expect 3 hours of entertainment.. but once they have our money it seems they have no obligation to provide a quality product. Whats the small print for customer satisfaction and quality on PPV tv? |

Rep Power: 17 ![]() | I don't know of any place that lets you return movies you buy if you don't like them. Actually, I'm pretty sure you can only return a movie if it's unopened or damaged. It's a copyright thing. Otherwise people would be buying movies, copying them to blanks and refunding them all the time. I think it's pretty much the same for PPV. Only get a refund if you were not able to watch it due to something wrong on their end. Long story short, you buy it you better like it. Pretend to, at least.

Rep Power: 6 ![]() | Aah, yes, buyer's remorse. The best way to combat that is to go by the rule that if you didn't like it the last time you bought it, don't buy it the next time.

Rep Power: 7 ![]() | Interesting how false advertising, misleading information and abuse of and/or lying to the consumer is allowed in the Media industry. ("This movie is spectacular.." "This will be the greatest PPV in history".. etc) If I buy a car because the commercials say it sprouts wings and flies you to work and when I get the car, I find out it doesnt then I can Nail them for false advertising and trades discription violations.. same as in most other outlets. Fortunately I havent experienced buyers remorse yet in the PPV area.. as you all know its only recently been a frequent thing here in the UK. But im sure one day Im going to be disgruntled at something Ive layed down my hard earned money for. |

Rep Power: 15 ![]() | You can rent movies for about $5, or even if you don't like it you can sell it and get some money back. With PPV's you are spending $35 to watch a 2 1/2 to 3 hour show once. As for buyers remorse, gamers are all to aware of this. When a game looks good in previews like WrestleMania 21, you might go out and get it but then you realize how crappy it is but you can't return opened games so you are screwed out of $50. |

I also know to be very wary with others outside the main five events now. If there isn't at least three matches I want to watch, I wont buy it.

Rep Power: 9 ![]() ![]() | Here`s the only fair way to do it, Download the PPV, like it? buy the DVD. Dislike it, well WWE only owes you 3 hours rather than 3 hours + $$$. |

Rep Power: 8 ![]() | Buyer's remorse? Heh...last PPV I ordered was the Royal Rumble with Steiner/HHH. Yep, that cooled my jets when it came to giving the WWE my money. I see where Shango's going with this though. When you go to buy a movie for example, more often than not you can find a review of it beforehand to help make an informed decision. With a WWE PPV its a crapshoot since you have no idea what's going to come off...in fact, there's no guarantee you'll get the matches advertised. Wrestling PPVs differ from boxing in the sense that boxing matches (supposedly) aren't pre-arranged, so the outcome is always in doubt. With wrestling the outcome is predetermined, so its probably more akin to a movie purchase than a boxing purchase. (aaaaaanyway) I don't know that there's any liability in the case of viewer dissatisfaction unless there was a blatant misrepresentation made by the promoter. Your only recourse is to not order future PPVs and voice your displeasure that way. On a side note, I actually did get a refund for a PPV event once. The very first UFC tournament, way back when, was advertised as "no rules, no holds barred!" fighting. So right before the first match the ref explains to the fighters which holds are illegal and what the rules are. Eh? I remember even Jim Brown, who was doing commentary, mentioned he thought there weren't supposed to be any rules. So I called the cable company the next day, explained the fact that the event was falsely advertised, and had the charge taken off my bill.
