Of those who have held both the WWE (or World) Championship and the Intercontinental Championship in their careers, only four are only one-time Intercontinental Champions: Kurt Angle, Randy Orton, Randy Savage, and Diesel. All other dual champions have held the I-C belt multiple times.
There have been 52 different people who have been the I-C Champion.
Joanie "Chyna" Laurer is the only woman to have held the belt, with three reigns totaling 82 days - which is more days than legends like Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat, Kurt Angle, and "The British Bulldog" Davey Boy Smith.
Chyna and Chris Jericho are the only two people to simultaneously hold the I-C belt, which they did for 20 days from 1/3/00 to 1/23/00.
Every winner of the King of the Ring PPV tournament has held the Intercontinental Championship with the exception of Mabel (aka Viscera) and Brock Lesnar.
As of the date of this post, Shelton Benjamin, the current champion, has held the title for 189 days, making his reign the 19th longest in history (out of 105).
I remember the Honky Tonk Man's reign a little bit..I guess that's why he's the best I.C. Champ ever. It's too bad he had to get beat in a squash like he did, he deserved better.
I predicted that Jericho would win the I.C. Title for the 8th time against Shelton but I hope he doesn't. WWE could do something with Benjamin and that title..Yes, he should be turned heel, but at the same time keep the belt. They can have him after a while claim that he's the best I.C. Champ ever. He doesn't have to break Honky's record but he could come close to it. What the hell else are they gonna do with the title anyway, you know?
And on a side note, it bothers me that Chyna is a three time champ. You want to give her the title on a fluke win o make a storyline out of it..fine but c'mon..three times? Sure she was built like a dude but women have no business beating men on a consistent basis like that.
