Rep Power: 6 ![]() | Fun Facts About the World Heavyweight Championship & the WWE Championship The WWE World Heavyweight Championship was created on September 2, 2002. As of the date of this post, the belt has been in existence for 1,182 days. 726 of those days, HHH has held the title. Second longest is Chris Benoit with 151 days. Goldberg is third with 83. Shawn Michaels is fourth with 28. Randy Orton just missed HBK's tenure with 27 days as champion. And, the current champion, Batista, is in last in his 25th day with the belt. Not very lopsided, eh? HHH has held the belt 61% of the days it has existed. Also interesting is that the belt was vacant for 142 days - a longer period than HBK, Orton, and Batista's reigns combined. The longest reign with the WWE/WWF/WWWF Championship belongs to Bruno Sammartino, who held the title for 2,761 days - from 5/17/63 to 1/18/71. That's over seven and a half years - unthinkable and unwanted in today's world. Sammartino, consequently, also has held the title the most days of anyone in history with 3,981 days between his two reigns with the belt. Hulk Hogan is second with 2,152 days. The dubious honor of the bottom three WWE Champions of all-time go to Andre The Giant (who forfeited his title to Ted DiBiase the night he won it - and it was consequently vacated), Kane (who had a one-day reign), and Vince McMahon (6 days). More fun title stuff to come (man, I need a hobby!)...

Rep Power: 85 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Didn't the Hitman hold the title for a very short period of time after he won the Final Four match against Undertaker, Vader, and Sid? If I remember correctly Bret lost the title in a steel cage match to Sid because of intereference from Stone Cold and then got pissed and started swearing at Vince on live TV. As far as Triple H goes, I'm happy he's held the title a lot longer than anyone. Orton (the way he was being presented) wouldn't have made it very long, Goldberg is boring (my opinion) and Chris Benoit had it long enough. I love Benoit, he's a great worker, probably the best, but the main core of wrestling fans don't find him interesting enough as World Champion at the top of the card because he doesn't have the charisma they are looking for (like Rock, Angle,Austin, HBK,Hogan, etc.) The only guy I can make a case for is Shawn Michaels, but I kind of thought it was dumb to put the title on him in the first place being that he only had wrestled two matches since his comeback. He could definitely be champion now, but I'd rather see him moved to SD!.

As far as Blitz's question about the Hitman, I can't remember what happened back then - that was kind of my "dark period" when I didn't watch wrestling as much. I had to go from stats I found online to put this together, so maybe I missed something??

The drama that night for me was amazing! I went NUTS when Y2J won because it wasn't expected (of course the title was then taken back but thats another story) I feel the belt is far too predictable now, you can probably guess the next 2/3 title changes in advance and thats what makes the title bland. but the Y2J win was awesome :-) P.S title changes will be Batista to HHH, HHH to Batista, Batista to Edge, Edge to Benoit.
