That's all the people I can think of for right now...but all the people were pretty much in their prime at this point...That roster is frickin' loaded with future hall of famers. I just can't see this ever being duplicated.

That was pretty much my favourite time, just before the invasion started. Everything was built up storyline wise between 97 & 2000, then in 2000 they got some really good in-ring guys to add to their characters (i.e Benoit, Guerrero, Tazz, Raven, Malenko, Angles 1st full year). It really made for an excellent year or so.
I remember seeing the '92 Royal Rumble that Flair won and thinking jesus that is one high quality roster they had at that time, however a lot of those guys were either just before or just past their best.
Yeah, that was my main point..all these guys were all in probably the best shape of their career. It was amazing.
And you're right..there was something for everyone to like, whether they wanted to see excellent storylines, funny skits, or just really great wrestling matches.
I'm not dissing the guys on the roster now...A lot of them are just young or new to the business or in some cases past their prime.
Very true, but the star power alone. Austin, Rocky, HHH, Foley, Taker. Three of those guys are missing and one can't even come close to what he was 4 years ago. HHH is the only one still going strong. There is no one on either roster right now that comes close to equaling those losses.
Just to play devils advocate against myself there though.
If you look at the cream of the talent on the two rosters COMBINED it's none too shabby still (still not as good but still none too shabby!!).
The roster in 2000/1 wasn't split.
Its says an awful lot that the roster wasnt split back then but everyone had a seemingly meaningful storyline almost all of the time. Now with a split, therefore airtime available for more wrestlers, only the top two fueds on either program seem to be coherently written and given time to unfold. Everyone else is on the old 3 week fued towards PPV, now watsupwitdat?
I loved that roster. Also, everyone seemed to belong to a division at the time which made it more interesting. You had the top WWE title guys, then just under that were Intercontinental guys, great tag teams which will never be replicated and also european and hardcore divisions. This was truely the peak of WWE, in terms of entertainment i got out of it.
I wish my sex life was like ECW, first you get a One Night Stand followed by 2 months of nostalgic orgasms and then 6 months of constant sucking.
I think this roster peaked at Wrestlemania X-Seven, look at the card
The Rock vs Steve Austin
Undertaker vs Triple H
The Hardy Boys vs Dudley Boys vs Edge & Christian
Kurt Angle vs Chris Benoit
Shane McMahon vs Vince McMahon
All great matches and all the sup[erstar wrestling at the high point of their career.
Not long after this Trips and Benoit got serious injurys and the product started going down hill (The invasion didnt help)
