When WWE bought out WCW, I always thought that they could have turned that into the greatest storyline EVER...instead we got the "Invasion" lol.
I had a great idea, which would have made Vince Millions of Dollars imo. This is what they should've done: They should have played out a fight between Shane and Vince in real life. They could even have Shane go to shows like "Off The Record" and have Shane bash his father, to make it seem more real. Have nobody involved except for Vince, Shane, Linda and I guess Stephanie. Then when WCW went for sale, they should have made Shane buy it. Make it seem that Shane won the bid. This way we could have had the Monday Night Wars still and real competition. Years down the line or something, you can have even interpromotional matches (They can say its for business and they kinda made up). Many years down the road, they could say it was all staged. This would have been the Greatest Storyline in History? :redbounce :redbounce :redbounce :redbounce :redbounce
True. There were so many ways that the Invasion angle could've gone. WWE dropped the ball big time. I'm not sure how many others would agree but I think WCW shouldve stayed a seperate entity and then try and recapture the aura of the Monday Night Wars by having superstars "jump ship"
I wish my sex life was like ECW, first you get a One Night Stand followed by 2 months of nostalgic orgasms and then 6 months of constant sucking.
The Monday Night Wars is the real reason why I am still a fan. Those were incredible days and I remember wearing a wrestling shirt (Austin 3:16 or nWo) was actually not geeky lol

Lol, most of my friends who aren't/weren't wrestling fans have some nWo gear in their wardrobe still. I asked my friend once if he liked the nWo and he said "Who are they? I just though this hat was cool." It's a lot different to when I now go out wearing my Jericho Highlight Reel Shirt and people give me weird looks.

I know what you mean...I think the only wrestling shirt I bought was an nWo shirt and i remember making one of my friends (he wasn't a wrestling fan), buy one too lol

I'm trying to forget what WCW was like for it's last year. The McMahon's have only got history of putting on good WWE "type" shows. WCW at it's best featured an awesome Cruiserweight division and major stars on fat guaranteed contracts both of which Vince wouldn't do (quite rightly on the contracts side of things). Vince wanted WCW alright, but he wanted HIS version of WCW. I'll never forget the lame ass way they handled any potential invasion angle.
On the point in question though, it would have been a good idea Narc, now where's that time machine gone you need??
I think Wrestling is still very popular, don't get fooled. Not as much as the old days, but still...I think competion is good for business, no matter what that business is and WCW was good for WWE and vice versa. Lets hope TNA gets off the ground.
There's still plenty who watch wrestling no doubt, but it just seems so uncool to mention these days. You're looked down upon at times for watching it. At least that's the case with me

i completely agree. i remember about 6 years ago in high school, tons of the guys were talking about wrestling on tuesday morning in classes. now, at college, if you mention wrestling, you get a wierd look and a "you watch that?" and people give me odd looks when i wear my old wcw shirt that features nash and hall plus a few other guys.
maybe it's the difference between high schoolers and egghead college types, but i don't know, i haven't heard anyone bring up wrestling in class (other than myself, and 1 single guy) in about 5 years.
