Remember when we had great tag teams?

Legion of Doom, The Nasty Boys, The Hart Foundation, Demolition, The Steiner Brothers, and the list goes on and on...

These are teams that were just as beloved and esteemed as many of the great singles wrestlers of the same eras. As time has gone on these teams have faded, and with them, the interest in tag team wrestling has also begun to fade. A few breaths of life having kicked back into the division, with such historic teams as The Hardy Boyz, The Dudley Boys, Edge and Christian, and some others. But, even then, it was obvious that the tag team division was nowhere near what it was years ago.

I remember a time when I had dream matches not just consisting of one on one confrontations, but even between some of our favorite teams. Right now, at this point in WWE history, I honestly cannot think of two current teams that could be pitted against each other to create what would be a dream match to millions of fans. You could do that back then. There were teams like that. You could put them together in a wrestling ring and it generate just as much hype as Hogan/Warrior.

I wish we could get that back. It seems that WWE is trying, with the reformation of The Rockers. But, it's going to take alot more than just that. Old school tag teams thrived off of gimmicks. That's what made them stand out and seem so cool. WWE seems to be lending away from using gimmicks with their tag teams and moreso, creating random teams of already established superstars that last for a few weeks, maybe a month.

I think some of these OVW prospects should be packaged together as credible teams with original gimmicks.

What do you guys think?

I suppose we've gone over this elsewhere, but I would put all the tag teams on one show (not that theres a whole lot of them), Dudleys, Bashams, LaResistance, Regal/Eugene, add Thrillseekers from OVW and use part time teams Rockers, E&C and Worlds Greatest Tag Team. Obviously this would have to happen in the draft.

Even that doesn't really do a hell of a lot for me because of the quality of the teams. The part time teams are the only ones that I really would enjoy. It's just a shame, but at least we have all the DVD's of those wonderful two years or so with all the TLC, Ladders, Tables, Steel Cage matches to look back on.

I agree with Bulldog...I think we had a thread like this a couple weeks ago so I'll keep this short. Do what Bulldog said and put all the teams on one show...I say put them on SD! because RAW doesn't need tag wrestling...then on RAW I'd like to see the Hardcore title come back as the new championship to replace the tag titles.

Couple more teams I'll add to Bulldog's list...umm..The Shane Twins and Simon Dean & Maven because they have charisma.

Agreed with Simon Dean & Maven....they could be called S&M (Simon & Maven) and you could have them as complete dorks that don't even recognise what those initials mean!!!

Bit more reserved about Shane Twins. Powerslam (a highly reputable UK wrestling magazine) has told us not to expect much and that these two guys really suck in the ring (obviously they put it in nicer terms!!)

That's interesting...cuz when the twins got signed I remember some kind of hype about them. Have you ever seen them wrestle Bulldog? cuz I haven't. It's too bad that they might suck because from the pictures I saw of them they looked like an actual REAL tag team.

No I've never seen them myself. Like I said, just going on what Powerslam has stated and, as has been mentioned by UK followers before, they are generally right about these sort of things and they were really down on the Shanes.

I honestly don't see The Rockers anywhere in any of this unless thats the plan when Janetty comes back. Because all I saw was a one night deal, I definatley would not put the fate of the tag division in the hands of those two.
