I'm sure I'm not the only one who misses the old days of tremendous tag team action. Remember when there would be like 7 or 8 tag teams trying to get the belts? And I'm not even going back as far as the Hart Foundation, Rockers, Demolition, etc. The tag situation was good as recently as 2001-02 when you had the Hardys, E & C, The Dudleys, APA, etc. I realize that they can't have as many tag teams because of the brand split, but c'mon these belts are a joke.
You have Rey and Eddie holding the belts on SD! and there only a makeshift tag team and the top contenders are the Bashams.
Then on RAW it's even worse. When's the last time you even saw Tajiri and Regal wrestle on RAW?
So how would you fix the problem? Who would you have team up together? (keep in mind they would have to be together for a while), and why would you team those two together?
I think a big problem with RAW's tag division is that they lost Eugene. They were really setting up for him and Regal to be the cornerstone.
Having said that, Dinsmore too would not have been able to compensate for the lack of real teams.
In relation to the topic, I would probably make Daivari active and put him and Hassan in Raw's tag division. A primary feud with Regal and Tajiri could be entertaining. And I would probably get Hurricane to ditch Rosey and form a ****y team with Maven just to get something interesting happeneing with both guys.
As far as Smackdown goes, i think they need the Dudleys back. Hopefully they'll be refreshed and entertaining again. When it coes down to it though, the tag championships just need to build more credibility at the moment and that won't be done by makeshift teams unless they (Rey and Eddie) stay in the division, which would be a gross misuse of those two.
I wish my sex life was like ECW, first you get a One Night Stand followed by 2 months of nostalgic orgasms and then 6 months of constant sucking.
WWE needs to figure out that a tage team is just that, A TEAM!!!! They are not two singles guy thrown together cause they have nothing to do. They wear similar ring gear, they have tag team moves. All WWE needs to do is take a quick look at tag teams in TNA. There the belts actually mean something because you have guys who are teams competeing for tag team belts. And it is possible to put on a tag match without the tired old formula of, Face 1 gets beat on till he makes the hot tag then Face 2 cleans house, repeat until Heel 1 or 2 distracts ref and illegal man gets the cheap pin. Combine the rosters because there are not enough wrestlers to compose a tag division as is.
The best way to bring back the tag division is to keep it on raw alone. Get rid of the tag titles on Smackdown, and only have the raw tag team titles. Focus all your tag teams on raw, while balencing it out with cruiserweights on smackdown. Seems like a logical move...

Put more numbers and storylines into the Cruiser division on Smackdown (and stop putting them in with heavyweights....and actually allow them to wrestle a cruiser style), and put all the tag teams on Raw. That'd be The Rockers, The Dudleys, The Bashams, LaResistance, Regal&Eugene and just create a couple more in addition to putting in OVW's Thrillseekers.

I strongly agree with both these points. A tag team doesnt necessarily have to be two guys with the same style, but they should complement each other well. The Hart Foundation is a good example of this.
Also, they might want to take some time and actually develop the teams and their feuds. There is nothing interesting about the Bashams whatsoever, even though they are JBL's boys. Why? Because all they do is stand in the background and nod their heads while JBL speaks. They are adequate in the ring, its a shame the crowd isnt given any reason to care abou them. This goes back to the point I always make...they spend way too much time focusing on HHH and JBL, and not enough on the mid-card.
The Raw tag division is a total joke. The belts basically just alternate between La Resistance and a team of two random singles wrestlers with nothing to do.
What they should do and could have done all along is bring up these guys from OVW and put them in tag teams together.
It certainly worked for Team Angle, The Hardy Boys, E&C as the Brood, Bashmans etc etc.
Why all of a sudden do these green ass guys get prime time when they have no established persona.
I like the idea of keeping the Tag Titles on Raw and focus on the Crusierweights on SD.
Here is the tag teams I would like to see say 3 months from now. They could do whatever they need to do to get these teams together, but it would work. A few things they could do is have Bisch say is call 14 or 16 Raw superstars to his office and say that they need to find partners for a tag tourney or they are fired. This could lead to maybe a couple guys not being able to find partners, this is when OVW guys could come up.
Here are my tag teams I would go with....(of course a few trades may have to take place for this to work)
Dudley Boys
Regal & Tajiri
Tyson Tomko & Rhyno
Johnny Nitro & Matt Cappoletti
Maven & Daniel Puder
Marty Jannety & Matt Hardy
Simon Dean & Val Venis
and yes believe it or not.
Trish Stratus & Christian.
It's about time......now bring on his next fued....
I will vote for uniting the two pairs of tag titles and moving the "undisputed titles" to RAW as well. And to make the titles more prestigious, I would have wrestlers on Smackdown! and RAW openly express desire to form teams, go to RAW, and win those belts. Maybe a story line could have Bubba and D-Von demand that Long trade them to RAW, or they'll just whine all day and be unmotived like A-Rod did.
I know now we're touching on the brand separation issues. But, I think having the wrestlers acknowledge the differences in the two brands, and express how they feel they can benefit from being in either one can further distinguish the two.
