Why the big guy gets no respect?

Why do big wrestlers hardly get any respect these days? And when they do, they have to have something amazing about them before people will even begin to give them a change?

I know that smaller guys can be faster and do some amazing stuff in the ring but what is wrong with mixing things up a little? If you look at the most popular wrestlers it seems to be a 50/50 split between big and small guys so where has all the love for the big guy gone? It just seems like people get more excited about the little guy compared to a big guy or even like a middle weight division better.

Why?

It depends really. Usually when I'm watching the ppv at a local bar/sports club type place, most people hate big guys wrestling. The past 3 undertaker matches I've seen everyone was saying it was horrible crap. Now with me I still like the big guys wrestling for the most part. Undertaker seems in excellent shape, and can still wrestling pretty well if you ask me. Even Shnitsky, and Heindreik *sp* both interest me to a point.

I of course love cruiserweight matches, but I must admit they get boring too. Something to me makes big man matches more authentic. I dont know feels more real. I know that doesnt make sense, but thats seriously what it feels like. Like the cruiserweights only have so far to climb before they reach a breaking point. Wrestling has always been made for the bigger guy, so when you see more cruiserweights its hard to get used to.

I actually prefer how it was in the 80's with the big fat guys wrestling. I didnt mind that at all with the likes of Earthquake, Akeem, etc.

That is what I mean, back then people never complained about those guys. Now you have guys with 3 times their talent and they bitch whine and complain about every single big guy. I think people are getting too spoiled and forgot how to be entertained by wrestling entertainment itself. I wind I can be entertained by almost anyone up to a point and give most guys a change to do so. The only wrestling I don't find that entertaining is women wrestling. I find it looks too fake and poorly done. Some chics can pull it off that not many.

I always mark for the big guys because it is what I grew up on and don't get me wrong, I love the cruiserweight matches or the HBK's just as much. I just wish people would give the big guys a chance too. More so than they have been.

I just cant stand when they throw a cruiserweight against a regular sized wrestler. Give me a break. Nothign worse than watching Rey Mysterio fight Kurt Angle. Like you can even take that shit serious. Horrible crap if you ask me.

Oh comon bud, are you serious? Those were some of my favourite matches. You are not supossed to take them seriously, its wrestling after all. Then why ever take HBK seriously, you know in a real fight, he would get his a** kicked by just about everyone. I could probably kick the crap out of him lol. :baa:

Rey Mysterio is like 5'5'' hbk is what 6 feet tall?

There's a point where it just makes it look stupid as hell. Rey Mysterio beating cruiserweights is one thing, anything else is just lame. That's like trying to pull off a midget beating him...

In a sense your right once in a blue moon it could be alright, but sometimes its a bit extreme. I could see Rey fighting a Christian or even an HBK. But shit Angle, Brock Lesnar crap like that come on doesnt fly with me lol...

But I've always thought a cruiserweight title could mean as much as any title if they booked it right. Shit the X-division in TNA means more than the heavyweight title now. I dont think it's a bad thing to be cruiserweight champion, it's just a bad thing when the company doesnt respect the division...

So does that means you think ( I know this is TNA related but) AJ Styles shouldn't be heavy weight champ in TNA because of his size or do you think he slides in there and is big enough to be believeable?

Would you rather see a big guy as a champ or a average X wrestler?

AJ styles is 7 inches taller than Rey Mysterio Jr. I think he slides as far as that goes. Some cruiserweights are just way too small to become a reasonable threat on a heavyweight level. I'd say the limit as far as heavyweight should be around 5'10''
