Gotta go with Jericho, though I'd love to see Captain Charisma get it. However, I hope its the start of some major storyline, that causes all kinds of problems next year because the winner make his challenge at WM, causing problems with the Royal Rumble winner.
6. Shelton (already the IC champ and is not ready for the main-event stage yet)
5. Jericho (even though he suggested the match, I don't see him being a threat to win)
4. Christian (sentimental choice, but I don't see Vince giving Christian a run at the title yet)
3. Edge (he's already a heel so that helps, but I don't see him winning)
2. Kane (there's always been good crowd reaction when these two have gone toe-to-toe in the past)
1. Benoit (he can turn heel and could carry Batista to some good matches)
Really, any of these guys would be good to great opponents for Batista, but we all know that Triple H will get his rematch at Backlash, so whoever wins, we'll likekly have to wait until at least Bad Blood for the winner to get his title shot.
Sounds like everyone's assuming Batista will beat HHH. Ceratinly sounds right. Then I agree with Benoit (who's already beat Batista several times). Kane would also be good, but: they can't seem to make up their mind whether he's heel or face, and it would have to be later rather than sooner since they're gonna want to make Batista seem physically invincible at first. Neither of these will be the next WM main event though IMO.

not only is everyone assuming that batista will win the belt, which he prolly will... but your'e also assuming that batista will still hold the belt when the ladder match winner (jericho or benoit, but i'm gonna hope for christian) challenges him. esp if the winner waits till the next mania, what are the odds batista will still be champ.
i still fear that batista will win and hhh will win it right back w/ 2 maybe 3 months. (i kindof hope i'm wrong on that one)
otherwise i'm excited about the ladder match. (except for kane) i don't really know who's gonna win. and that's a neat feeling after the last few years of virtual predictability.
