I have to admit it! I am a mark for Randy Orton. Well, at least the Randy Orton before the face turn that has completely flatlined his character. Anyways, after reading some interesting posts I started thinking about the proposed Randy Orton vs The Undertaker match at Wrestlemania XXI. From a booking standpoint, there just doesnt seem to be a way the WWE can go wrong with this one. Whether Orton wins or loses this match, Smackdown! gets a potentially great storyline that can continue on the undercard or maybe even be elevated into the main event (with the title). Here are a couple scenario's.
Scenario #1: Randy Orton defeats the Undertaker at Mania!!!
Essentially, a Randy Orton win at Mania would be the biggest win of his carear and it would renew the "Legend Killer" gimmick, because lets be honest, it is dead as of now. Orton would be the first and only person to defeat The Undertaker at Mania, thus, ending the legendary streak. That is more than enough fuel to have a lengthy fued between the two.
Scenario #2: Undertaker defeats Orton and remains a legend at Mania
The other option is to have Orton give a strong showing but lose out in the end. I am thinking of a performance like Jeff Hardy had on RAW against Taker before he left, except Orton can come out a whole lot stronger. Eventually, he would lose in a one-sided bloodbath, but refuse to quite, like Hardy did. Eventually, Taker gives in and they restart the match. Orton loses again. Restart... and so on until he can no longer perform. The lose(s) will haunt Orton, causing him to turn heel and be out for vengence.
My ideas go a whole lot further than that, but I will leave it there. What do you think?
Ehh my thoughts are I cant stand Randy Orton. So I'm a bit biased. The match will probably be pretty bad. Undertaker is still ok to me, but most people dont feel that way. Randy Orton seems to botch more moves than anyone else. Again I'm biased, but he just seems so green to me.

Seriously. Do you like any wrestlers or do you just come on here and rip about everyone? Just a question?
Anyways, my idea in an Orton win is just that, an idea. Think of the shock value if they had RKO go over. It would be a huge deal and the storyline could evolve from there. Anyways, the idea of this thread was to see what other people think they could do with the angle, not just say, Orton sucks, thats not very constructive. Goes to show that WWE and maybe wrestling fans in general arent even trying to get creative. Instead, we see the same things happening over and over again and then we complian about them. Why not throw some ideas out there?

Many agree with me that Orton sucks balls. Sure I like many wrestlers
Jericho, Benoit, Eddie Guerrero, Kurt Angle, Petey Williams, AJ Styles, etc etc.
How can you get create with a guy who cant even make half his moves look decent. Sorry if I think someone blows I'll certainly say it...
Orton has zero charisma as a face. I say have him lose to Taker at Mania and then turn him heel on SmackDown. The arrogant Legend Killer of old was far more entertaining than the wuss of now.
I dont think Vince is stupid enough to have Taker lose to Randy "I cant get over" Orton.
Simon, it's not like you to have such a poor memory...
Remember about 9-10 months ago when Randy Orton was the hottest commodity in WWE. He was ridiculously over, feuding with Mick Foley, and was the best heel that everyone loved to hate. If his name had been Randy "I Can't Get Over As A Babyface" Orton, you'd be exactly right - but he was a fantastic heel, and to say he can't get over is nothing but wrong.
As for Starscream's scenarios, that thought crossed my mind too when I heard that they are planning to book Taker/Orton at Mania. I think that option 1 would be an incredible way to get Orton over short-term, but option 2 would be the best thing for him long-term. If he were to have Taker beat, but not get the victory (due to a ref bump or something along those lines), and have him go crazy on Taker, beating the crap out of him after losing to him, he'd be back in his past heel glory, and they could trade him to Smackdown to feud with the Deadman. Plus, moving him to Smackdown as a heel would make it easy to set up the long-awaited feud between he and John Cena. As far as option 1 goes, Orton wins, and still has nothing left for him on Raw...not exactly a spectacular showing. Plus, having Taker continue his Mania undefeated streak would keep his ego happy.
I don't know, I don't see a jump to smackdown as the end all solution Orton needs. I think there is more they could do with him if Batista becomes champion. He could go to congradulate him post match and then attack him or something. Then maybe the next night have HHH come to him for a deal and have him jump him too. Make Orton his own man, make him ****y, don't have him mouth off to the crowd, but don't kiss their ass, just do what he showed he could do and rip into every guy on the roster whether they are face or heel. And if that doesn't work, I don't know have Kane impregnate Trish and have Orton kill the kid, because that's the way to make a star.
Thanks Y2J - You are exactly right! Thankfully someone realised the major flaws in the arguements above. Orton was a star before his face turn, and whether or not SImon or Sabac liked him then, well thats their personal opinion and their right. However, the fact of the matter is, Orton had developed and delivered a solid heel character - the arrogant, conceited, young, rising star. Thats what I think WWE needs to do with him. Have him go back to that attitude. Now, he doesnt have to become full-fledged heel, he could stay a 'tweener' and be successful. That is how they should have booked him after his title win. If they had, he probably would have held the title longer.
The idea in either one of my scenarios is for Orton to make a move to that 'tweener' character. If he wins, he really has a reason to be conceited and reproclaim himself as the 'Legend Killer' which will obviously, upset some fans but also gain pops from others (such as myself). If he won, the idea of a trade here would be to set-up a longer fued with the 'Deadman' who would obviously want revenge for his MAnia win streak ending. This fued could actually continue on either show.
Another option would be for Orton to stay on RAW, eventually become involved in a Triple Threat Title match scenario with Batista and HHH, say at Summerslam, and have the Undertaker screw over Orton as he is about to win, thus, leading to a trade then (Orton demanding it). Thats how I would book it, but thats just me.
