A guy that I think had a huge impact (not the biggest) in wrestling was Jimmy Snuka.

Those are the only ppl non wrestling fans would recognize.

I'd say Austin is the guy that made wrestling popular again, but it was the Rock, with the help of Foley, who took the WWF to its greatest heights ratings and popularity wise. So my answer is the Rock.
