I found Raw to be very entertaining this week. The stipulations for the match were cool, and it was well-booked all night, especially the match-ups. For instance, Jericho started out with a tough match-up against Christian and got a pretty poor time, which was a good starting point for the times to beat. Then, pairing a comedic character like Eugene with an uptight character like Edge made for an entertaining match, especially since Edge had so much at stake. And pitting HHH against a tough opponent like Shelton made things interesting, rather than just feeding him a low-card performer like Stevie Richards and having HHH squash him and proving how tough he is.
As for the rest of the show, it was pretty good too. The Simon Dean character has grown on me, and i especially liked the weight-belt spot. Muhammad Hassan is a good speaker, and is in excellent shape, and I'd like to see him perform in the ring. The only drawback on the show was seeing the "acting" by Lita and Snitsky, but they had to do it to set up Kane's return, so I cant really hold it against them
Best part about the show: 8 matches!!! Back when I rediscovered wrestling in '99 and 2000, Raw generally had 7, 8, or even 9 matches a week. Now we're lucky if we get 5. It was nice to see so many people get in-ring time on Raw
Simon's notes from Raw ( I am writing these as I watch the program)
*Loved the way the show started with the stipulations on the Elimination Chamber. I dont think Eric was vocal enough on how the opponents would take their place in the EC match. I dont suspect anyone to lose there matches though.
*Did Bischoff just eat like a pig while he was out for 4 weeks. He looks like he has gained about 20 pounds.
*If anyone was going to lose their spot in the EC match, I would have guessed Y2J. I am glad they gave Christian some props by having it go 10:47 if he had to lose. Big "Christian sucks" chants from the crowd. Crowd made this match hot.
*Orton over Maven = Zzzzzzz. I cant express how much they should have turned him heel last month.
Greeeeeeeeeeeeeeeat. My DVR only recorded the first hour.
Oh well. Simons notes are done for this week.
It's about time......now bring on his next fued....
This was the best RAW of the year. Every match was entertaining, even tho they were predictible. I never really liked Big Dave, but I got to admit, hes being awesome. I just fear that the same thing that happened to Orton, will happen to him. I really miss those Desire videos and seeing that video of the Superstars in Iraq was nice. The Muhammed Hassain's skit was the best one of the year too, even tho they ended it, when it was getting really good. If RAW was like this every week, the ratings would hit 7/8 every week imo.
After reading JV's review, I can only wonder what was even the point of saying that their opponent would get a spot in the EC match? I really wish they pulled a swerve and one of the opponents a shot in the EC match.
But I agree. If every Raw was like this one, we would have much higher rating on a consistent basis.

I just watched the tape of this show and I have to say it was probably the most entertaing show of the year.
Every match in the beat the clock had interest and I liked the idea that if someone lost there spot would go to the wrestler that beat them. Now of course you knew Benoit wasn't losing to Viscera, but it added a certain level of drama to each match besides the clock itself.
The build to a Batista-HHH feud continues to grow slowly and effectively. This is how they should have done it with Orton. At this rate, by the time Batista does turn WWE could really have a star on their hands. Batista just has that look of a potential star.
Hassan's promo was well done and I can't wait to see him in the ring. If his wrestling ability is anywhere near his talking ability he could be a big time heel for a while.
Simon Dean I like, but he needs to be a bit more impressive in the ring and I think that is on WWE. I know this man has wrestling ability. The gimmick is fun, but just not enough without good wrestling. That's what made Angle so great. His gimmick was fun to laugh at, but then when he got in the ring you could do nothing but respect the man's talent.
I think all the build to the chamber match and now HBK being thrown in as the guest ref has made the New Year's Revolution PPV look very important and a lot more eventful than any past one-show PPV's. This PPV will be the first one-show PPV that I'm going to order and for WWE that is a good thing.
Just watched the Arab promo and Batista match again and I have to say, I LOVE the arabs and he is awesome on the mic! I also think every single thing he said was true and I bet when they come to Canada they get cheered.
The Batista match was good because it was fun watching him play up to the crowd and they loved every second of it. I think Batista can and will be bigger then Orton. But ORton will be oh so close behind. I think WWE struck gold and are all giggling backstage at the potential future of wresting and WWE ratings.
I also thing this will do wonders for TNA and get them on a bigger network. I wouldn't be surprised if WWE goes back to USA network that Spike picks up TNA real fast.
Have to say for once I really enjoyed RAW this week. We were finally treated to some "wrestling" and not the usual 3 match card that we have been subject to for the last while and multiple promos. If they could produce this type of show every week where the "wrestling" is the foucus and not the "soap opera" aspect, then I think the show's ratings and viewers would increase.
