The WWE Title and JBL

I watched the end of Smackdown last night and couldnt help but think........this guy is not a credible champ AT ALL.

Then I started thinking. What will become of JBL when he is no longer champion. I started to cringe when I realized that his character will BLOW if he isnt the champ. I cringed because I fear the WWE realizes this and will keep the title on his for a while.

Then Undertaker comes out and lays OJ and JBL out then holds the title up above his head to a huge pop.

If the rumors of Undertaker hanging up his boots soon (which I dont believe at all) then the WWE would be wise to give him the title pronto. Taker could ride a title riegn up to WM21 where he loses for the first time at a WM to someone that the company sees as the future. Perhaps a nice little Cena/Taker fued again.

The point being is that lately the WWE title has been showcased as a security blanket and not the most prestigous honor in wrestling.

One thing I'll agree with is that the JBL character has to have the title or can't really be a part of the show at all. That is what it has come to. JBL basically comes out with the limo, talks about his sucess in life, in and out of the ring, and is now putting together some sort of cabinent which includes OJ as the chief of staff, Amy as the marketing director or whatever, and now maybe even the Bashams in the mix. Point is a mid-card wrestler doesn't have all this shit. WWE has made him like the HHH of Smackdown!, when in reality if Smackdown! was going to do a HHH type of character it should have been Kurt Angle.

Anyway, if the fans get pissed off enough JBL will eventually die out. I actually like JBL's character, but I'm getting tired of it quick. I think WWE will have enough sense to put the belt on someone of a bigger name soon so they can build a big Wrestlemania match for the title.

Simon said Undertaker vs. Cena. I would like to see Angle vs. Taker and have Angle end the streak of the dead man. However, I'd also like to see Kurt vs. HBK but damn I can't have Angle in every match although I'd like to.

I hope JBL loses his title to Farooq.

Just kidding. But seriously folks, JBL sucks and he sucks it hard. He has got to be one of the worst, worst, worst WWE Champions in a very long time. This is another reason why the brand extension isn't working, there just isn't enough "Main Event" level talent to keep things afloat. JBL wouldn't make a good secondary champion, let alone the World Champion.

Why can't they put someone on Smackdown like Jericho? Fucking Christ, why not give the title to RVD or something? Anyone who is somewhat entertaining. Not this asshole.

WWE has tried an old trick with JBL, it seems. What they have done, at least in the past, with other titles is place them on wrestlers in an attempt to get them over. However, you can't do that with a World Championship. The time to "get over" has passed.

JBL just doesn't cut it in any area.

JBL's characters is great and he does cut amazing promos, but the truth is.......he still kinda sux! He has improved alot, but thats the truth. Also I do agree, that he is the worst WWE/F champion of all time. If you tried, you cant name someone even close as bad as him. I think the US title would have been a better fit. As far as the title match (WrestleMania), I dont wanna see JBL or Taker.

I like the JBL character as well. At first, I wasn't into it at all. It happened so fast; Faarooq was fired one week, and the very next week Bradshaw becomes JBL. I also didn't agree with him becoming WWE champ so soon. However, now that he's had that title for months, he's built some credibility as champion. I now consider JBL to be the biggest heel on Smackdown (obviously) but, more importantly, a true main-eventer. That's not to say he will ever draw a dime as champion (since people still don't give a crap about him), but at least he's a believeable main-eventer, imo.

I think that with JBL, WWE tried to pull a reverse, fast-forward version of what they did with Stone Cold Steve Austin. Think about it: Austin was a midcard nobody as the Ringmaster when he first arrived in the then-WWF. He wasn't over, didn't have much to his character, and was pretty forgettable. Then, he slowly evolved into the badass, trash-talking neo-babyface and took off.

JBL, similarly, was a midcard nobody who didn't have much to his character and, like SCSA as the Ringmaster, was pretty unforgettable. Then, he very quickly evolved into a smug, high power update of the Million Dollar Man and was given the WWE Championship. The unfortunate thing for Bradshaw is that he doesn't have nearly the talent that Austin did, and he was given this transformation in a month, not over the course of two years.

He's done everything he can to get over his character, and has done a decent job at it. The difference between a heel and a hell that draws is the ability to follow up solid storyline build-up with an equally solid payoff match, and Bradshaw simply doesn't have that level of in-ring talent. It's the difference between a Ric Flair and a Sycho Sid. Both were good at their characters, one delivered in the ring and was a huge heel draw, the other...well...

But, on the other hand, Smackdown hasn't done a great job with its "top tier" babyfaces since JBL got the belt, so nobody seems like that credible of a contender. I'd like to see RVD get a quick run with the belt before dropping it to someone like Kurt, but I don't book the shows. How sad...

I would really like to see an RVD Vs. JBL thing with RVD coming out on top.

That's about the only thing that would make JBL watchable, in my opinion.

Even if you did book this, Vince would still have to OK it, and I'm sure he wouldn't (since Vince hates doing what the fans want to see).

You cannot compare JBL to Austin. Austin did not go from the Ringmaster to the #1 wrestler in the company (Stone Cold) in one week. Austin paid his dues even as Stone Cold. He was jobbing to Savio Vega for months.

He said that Austin "slowly evolved".
