lol im stupid. Just ignore my post. The lack of sleep is getting to me. Lately im doing speed reading, but its not really working. My apologies Y2J. Great post btw.
I was just watching the ECW DVD and it's funny how Steve Austin had basically the Stone Cold character going over there and then WWE took him and made the Ringmaster....lol. Then they let him finally be Stone Cold and he takes off..freakin' morons!!
As far as this whole thing with JBL goes I was simply making the point that if JBL isn't in the World title picture his character sucks even more, so WWE is going to have pretty much fire him when the title run is over or his character will be more of a joke.
And if RVD hasn't won the title yet in WWE he probably never will because if they gave it to him now they would be saying that they made a grave mistake all these years and WWE won't stand for addmitting mistakes.

I wouldn't put it past them to eventually give RVD the belt. For example, JBL was nothing but a midcarder to jobber for many years, but WWE decided that they wanted to try and turn him into a main eventer by giving him the belt. Now, they did have to seriously change his character, but the "Powers That Be" decided to give him an opportunity nonetheless.
A better example would probably be Chris Benoit. It appeared for a long time that he'd be nothing but a midcard guy that chased the IC Belt and occasionally challenged (but lost) for the main belt. Benoit didn't have the mic skills, much like RVD, but the decision was made to finally give him the belt after years of work.
Now, would RVD be a credible champ at the moment? I'd say no offhand, though I don't believe he'd be that much worse (if at all) than JBL. Now given where the storylines are now, and the fact that rumor has it Angle-Undertaker for the title at Wrestlemania in March, I would love to see them work with RVD now and consider a RVD shot at the title, probably around May/June of next year.
Am I dreaming? Probably, but that's part of what makes wrestling enjoyable to watch.
Well, the one thing that RVD does have going for him is a new dvd. Think about it.
Eddie wins title gets a dvd
Benoit wins title gets a dvd
RVD wins title gets a dvd???
Anyway, I'd love to see RVD as champ. He would be more credible than JBL and he might actually put some fannies in the seats if they let him do some ECW shit.
My pediction however, is that Undertaker wins the fatal four way and goes on to mania, possibly for the last time.

I've found JBL entertaining over the last six months. His World Title run has reminded me of the lengthy IC run that the Honky Tonk Man had, getting the title from nowhere, being a good promo man but not necessarily a good worker, holding onto his title via all sorts of unclean victories.
I can see him going down the DiBiase route of being a manager/performer further down the line with a heel stable. (obviously I am not comparing JBL to DiBiase as a worker!!!)
I think Y2J summed it up perfectly. John Bradshaw Layfield hasn't succeeded as a main event draw (even though I'm sure that he's being credited internally for much of the SmackDown! brand's ratings success of late), but that hasn't been his fault. He has done everything he can to get his character over, and to a degree he's succeeded. The problem is that he was pushed too fast, too soon, and fans weren't given the proper amount of time to accept him in his new role or invest any emotions into the character. He was known as a beer drinking, cigar-chomping mid-card babyface redneck, and literally in the span of a week we were supposed to accept him as a brilliant stock market analyst and entrepreneur at the top of the card. It just doesn't work that way.
JBL should have had a proper build-up like JV said, but as for his future without the belt my crystal ball says....
At Armaggedon JBL will lose the title to none other than the Undertaker (leading to a Taker headlined Wrestlemania).... JBL will become emotionally distraught without the belt... WWE will start to show JBLs financial success in decline (a CNN report would be cool for this... kind of like the RNN breaking news with Orton). This will go on for a while and JBL will drop numerous matches as his finances dwindle.
JBL will eventually turn back to his beer drinking days and become the brawler that the fans identify with and love. JBL will start winning again and become a fan favorite. From then on it could go a few ways... JBL wins the title as the beer drinker or his finances increase again but this time he has fan support and is all about the people.
Did the fans even care for Bradshaw when he was in the APA? Perhaps, at first, but on the last leg of that gimmick no one cared about the team who jobbed regularly to Scotty & Rikishi.
Why does everyone keep referring to JBL's past and to who he was jobbing to? Does no one ever remember anything about the past? Look at who HHH was when he first came to WWF. Flair lost to Rico of all people and cleanly at that.
People just complain too much and at least he held the title for a good length of time and made the belt seem important, as appose to just having it a month and dissapearing into nothing. I see nothing wrong with someone who uas a strong character and has been a loyal employee getting a change to hold the belt for a while.
