I actually think there's been a lot of good in 2004:

Eddie Guerero becomes WWE Champion
Undertaker returns as the Deadman
After initially screwing up his push, JBL has become an effective and entertaining heel
New wrestlers have actually been given gimmicks (Orlando Jordan, Luther Reigns, Eugene)
The Y2J-Trish-Christian angle from early in the year
Carmella...sweet Carmella *drool*
The Royal Rumble was awesome
Big Show being booked better recently
John Cena: still the man
Coach's heel turn
Shelton Benjamin's surprise victory over HHH

Creature of the Night is the European Champion
Apart from everything that has already been mentioned, the rise to prominence of Tazz as a solid colour artist.

Royal Rumble this year was all the more awesome with those two on it.

HHH jobbing to somebody (namely Benoit) was great to watch too.
