Is it just me or does anyone else feel baffled by the warm feelings that Christian always gets on the Internet?
He was sorta good with Edge, though never as a wrestler (falling off a ladder does not = wrestling, sorry folks), but now is aimless and a waste of time.
I mean, seriously....do you guys really see him on par with The Rock, Stone Cold, Triple H, or The Undertaker? Does he really have that Main Event feel to you? How could he?
Hes easily one of the best guys on the stick. Hes got charisma equaled only by few and he can actually wrestle. What else does he need? To me, Christian and Jericho are the best guys on Raw! Hell, they even call him Capt. Charisma. He just needs better tights lol.
For every thing that makes me think that Christian is being under-used, he'll do two things to make me wish he was getting his ass kicked for real.

Actually, when Randy Orton was heel, it was like a more mature watchable version of Christian. ****y, confident, arrogant, when Randy was at a similar level to Christian was when it started to become apparent that Christian's use in a main event is redundant.

He's pretty competent on the mic ex. great with Edge and Y2J as well as on his own as the obnoxious little hissy fit throwing CLB. I always get a good kick out of him when he's on the show. Also, he wrestles well ex. TLCs and has had great matches against Booker T, Y2J, and I am looking forward to his match against HBK. I can honestly say I'm proud to be one of the peeps - LOL!!
I think the problem is not so much him, but more than likely bad booking on creative's part. If they did a better job of booking him correctly, then we would really see how talented this guy is, instead of creative expending their energy week in and week out, pushing Trips further than the moon and seeing who else's career he can squash.
Now that Heyman has returned, maybe there will be some marked improvement, but I'm not holding my breath on this one.
I've always been a fan of Christian's work - from his days in the Brood to he & Edge's "teen idol" gimmick (my personal fave) to the leader of the Peep-ulation, he's always been one of the more entertaining guys in WWE.
That said, I don't think that he has what it takes as-is to be a main event guy. First of all, just the name "Christian" doesn't fit that of a top draw. I know that he used the name "Christian Cage" in his indy days, and I think that'd be a good monicker to resurrect if WWE wants to move him up to the top tier. Second, he needs a change of ring gear. I don't know what it is, but for some reason long tights don't equate to main event guy - I don't know why it is, but it's a subconscious perception thing (this coming from a Y2J fan, nonetheless). Last, but not least, he needs a consistent push. It's hard to take someone seriously who, two years ago, was in the middle of a losing-streak-leads-to-temper-tantrum gimmick.
But, if WWE does more to further develop Christian, I think he's got the right tools to be a main eventer. He needs to bulk up a bit (since WWE has pre-programmed us to think that you have to be built to be the champ), but other than that, I'd pay to see him in upper-eschelon matches.
I agree with pretty much everything Y2J said there.
I believe we are now finally starting to see the Christian that he wants to portray. That means a lot to character development.
I was reading his bio. He has been around since 97. That is a long time for some of these guys. He has only missed more than a month once in 7 years. The WWE appears to be recoginizing his "Peepulation" are really rooting for him.
He plays the smartass heel a hell of a lot better than most of the roster. He has the ability to laugh at himself (asscream), the ability to take crazy bumps (TLC) and the charisma to deliver top notch promos.
I predict now that Christian wins the Royal Rumble. Remember that.
It's about time......now bring on his next fued....
I like the CLB now. I used to hate him when he was with Edge though. His character now just seems more like it was meant for him and he pulls it off great. He is also able to show he is good in the ring and when he was with Edge he didn't get to show that because they were usually feuding with the Hardys and Dudleys. The Dudleys can't wrestle and were coming from ECW so they were pushed as a hardcore tag team. Matt and Jeff were known as a high flying team. So the CLB (And Matt was too) was held back from showing his real talent in the ring because he was being held back by who he was teamed with and who they were feuding. Edge is the one that sucks not the CLB.
In the five years or so that I've been watching WWE the only heel I've regularly found to be better than Christian was Kurt Angle, and even he's getting a bit stale now that he's never funny anymore. Christian seems like he was born to play the obnoxious twerp. I think the only thing really keeping him from being in the main event someday is the fact that he can't really come across as menacing, which pretty much every other effective main event heel can do from time to time. It's probably primarily because of his size, though his character is admittedly a part of it too. His character is better suited to be a nuisance, not an unstoppable juggernaut. But who knows? If WWE were willing to give him a string of clean wins over some big names, and have him outsmart and then brutalize people in a string of feuds, maybe he'd feel as "main event" as anybody.
As for the "tights = no main event" thing, what about Benoit? Oh wait, he's a midcarder again, never mind.
