Relax bro lol. This thread is not saying anything wrong and theres nothing negative in saying that blading sux. I just said that HHH bleeds too much and so does Flair and personally i dont like it. I said that Ric Flair are usually boring and they are (Note that Flair is actually one of my faves). But the truth is, as good as hes on the mic and as good as some of his performances have been, most of his matches, especially today, are boring. Triple Hs matches are boring as well (to me anyway), and I think the reason he bleeds, is because he needs something to make his matches look dramatic. And as far as selective memory goes, I dont think I got one. I dont remember Owen bleeding every match, if any. Bret Hart did rarely bleed, and i mean RARELY. Jake was one of the best wrestlers of all time and I cant remember him using the blade job. So chill bro, theres nothing negative in saying u hate blading. I personally dont like it.

I don't think its the obviousnessness of blading that is the issue per se, its the amount that its done.

Whats the purpose of blading during a match?

Its to make the dramatic seem more dramatic, to add realism, to add a sense of brutality to a match... the kind of match that involves a gimmick or a blowoff of some form that needs that kind of extra drama or 'edge' to separate it from any other match on a card. I have a problem with people blading during a match that has been:

a) Poorly built so it loses all sense of belonging in a high drama environment,
b) Doesn't involve anything that would logically contribute to an injury that draws blood (as in a simple punch to the head, or a padded turnbuckle shot, or a rope flip or something, unless its hardway).
c) Doesn't come as a direct result of a high spot.

I dont have a problem if the match where blood is shown is:
a) High enough on the card and strong enough a backstory to warrant it.
b) Comes directly from a high spot.
c) Is believable to draw blood from.
d) Adds to the drama of the match, without just being nothing more than a talking point for the commentary.

People blade way too often in meaningless matches just to have JR start spouting off about 'bleeding like a stuck pig', or 'being lacerated' for 10 seconds and then forgot about. Undertaker vs Shawn Michaels, Badd Blood 1997 = good blading, Ric Flair vs Jericho = no need! I think sparingly using blood is much the same as sparing use of a good gimmick match; used too much, people become insensitive to it, just don't care anymore.

I'm glad someone brought this up because I was thinking about this topic the other day. I definitely feel there is too much blading going on today. I don't mind if someone blades in a PPV match where there's a lot on the line (title or the end of a long feud), but to have someone blade almost each week on RAW is too much and it takes the shock value away. It's almost got to the point now where I expect someone to blade each time during the main event, semi main event or during a big interview showdown. WWE needs to cut down on the blade jobs, especially Shawn and HHH; they do it ALL THE TIME! As I said, there is a right spot for blade jobs, but I feel WWE is using too much blood these days and it really isn't effective.

blading is maybe a touch overdone nowadays, like beatdowns and the like don't really need a blade.

but when done well..they are awesome.
Survivor series 2003 with HBK was brilliant
BUT the best blade this year, has to be Eddie G VS JBL at judgement Day

That was BRILLIANT!!!

Blading is not needed, and is generally not needed...

WWE Mid Carder

It is way overused nowadays, so its not as "shocking" anymore. For example, on Last Smackdown JBL busted open Hardcore Holley. It didn't really even show what happened because it went to a commercial break, and when it was back on he was just bleeding. It wasn't even that dramatic I guess because no one really cares for Hardcore Holley anyway. Blading should be used less often and reserved for Main eventers, or mid carders, or for spots where it is believable that one could get busted open from something.
