I have e-mailed this guy before and argued alot with him and I would just like to know what the hell his deal is. He is the only man I can think of who treats a man, who is doing his job and is successful, HHH, as the coming of the antichrist. Seriously, he broke down like every PPV for the last year and a half or so to show us that they focused on HHH so he could make his point that HHH is a horrible man in his opinion. I have problems from time to time but I do find good points as well, plus wrestling is a pastime and I don't treat wrestlers as if they came to my house and killed my family when they do things I don't agree with. So, since JV has answered people's questions on this board I would like him to answer why this man has been allowed to keep writing these articles and get posted on your site. He has never offered an objective opinion once and his main point for the last two years or so is that he hates HHH and that Booker T and RVD should be world champs. Now, I know the first response here will be Idaman calling me Mr Negative like hes my aunt Flo or something because he thinks that everyone who disagrees with him has broken some kind of law. I don't want your opinion on this till I get what I want, an answer from JV about why he has let Ryan O'Neill put his horrendous articles on his site. You can rip me after that cause I know you will.
To answer Steveo's question, I continue to post Ryan's columns because he occasionally stirs up controversy like this, and gets people talking. And whether you agree with him or disagree, I like to see people respond and give their own opinions. Ryan has never written anything that I'd consider offensive or immoral, plus he's one of the senior columnists who's been writing for the site for a while, so I see no reason to stop posting his work. I welcome your feedback, and will ask Ryan to register with the Forum (if he hasn't already) so he can comment.
Ryan has thrown his comments on here once or twice.
I agree with Steveo 100%, but here is the thing. Its a column. Even if Ryan doesnt agree with everything he writes (although he most likely does) he is still entitled to his opinion.
He seems like he takes a batch of steroids and rages out before writing sometimes though. lol.
First off I have to apologize to Steveo because I don't remember arguing with you through email. The only negative emails I receive usually say Triple H is great, or I suck. I never receive any constructive criticism from anyone. The majority of emails are positive including the ones I have received on this Triple H article. So if you have such a problem with my ripping on Triple H please give it to me with a proper explanation. You even complained about my statistics of the last 20 PPVs. Well is that not the point of an argument, to give solid evidence to back up your opinion? Triple H has dominated the main storylines for two years. His promos are boring and he can't win a match without a weapon or interference. Who is this entertaining to? Business has fallen with him on top and you can't say it was the same with Benoit, because he never once had the opportunity to carry the show without Triple H being involved as the focus of the show. I'm not just talking out of my ass here. It's quite obvious how insecure Hunter is to have to protect his spot through his wife. Like I said in a previous article, if McDonalds only cared about one hamburger instead of developing a menu, then they would be out of business within months. You do not run a company around your relatives' wishes. This is not being negative, this is how the world works. Except in WWE and that is why they are firing people to save money. That is sad. If another wrestling company was in competition, then there would be a mass exodus from WWE to get away from the favoritism. The other comment about my never writing anything positive, obviously shows that you don't finish what you start reading. Obviously I'm complaining about Triple H, the McMahons on television, the incompetent storylines that treat the fans like morons, the (been there done that, please go away) Undertaker vs. Bradshaw the mid-carder and the pathetic tag division. There is nothing positive to say about those topics. I am always positive about Benoit, Angle, Guerrero, Mysterio, Jericho, RVD, Tajiri, Christian etc. These guys are incredible athletes. I have made many comments about how excellent the tag division used to be and a tribute to Mr. Perfect. I throw in smart-ass comments on several occasions to make people laugh. People write me all the time, and tell me they were still laughing. My only two super negative articles were this one about Triple H and another one two years ago when I told Vince to kiss my ass in a word play on his angle with Regal. 50% of the people flipped out on that one as well. Of course 50% loved it too. So just because you enjoy being bored by Triple H and did not read my "Past and the Present" "New Year's Resolutions" "Twelve Days of Christmas" and "Four Pieces of Evidence" articles which are supposed to be sarcastic and fun, then that's your problem. Maybe we should go around the book store and stop publishing all of the books you don't like as well?
The only thing I think Ryan ever said which bothered me was that he had a broken spirit when they made Stephanie a GM again. That was the most melodramtic thing I ever heard.
On a plus side, Ryans articles are good for a laugh.
I think Ryan is being brutally honest and doesnt beat around the bush when criticising WWE product...
Which is damn right, why the hell cant we, we're paying their damn wages! If people are fed up of storylines being weak, and blindingly obvious missed opportunities in terms of pushes of the right stars, of course we're gonna speak up. Maybe SteveO is a HHH mark, and thats why he's defending him, which I can understand. Im a huge Undertaker mark and the guy can do no wrong in my eyes, but thats markdom for you.
I read his article and I think he made some valid points. I do however have to question his assumption that HHH is that much of an influence over Vince that would lead him to stay in most of the story lines and having the belt. Yes he is married to his daughter but I really think Vince thinks very highly of HHH because he is a big guy and has a good presence overall as a champ. I think if SCSA and the Rock were still around, Vince would not keep HHH on top and in the spotlight half as much as he does now. I just think that Vince doesn't have faith in others to carry the ball.
I see Ryan uses examples to back up what he is saying about HHH but I really have a hard time believing that the ratings are as low as there are right now mostly because of HHH. I think it has to do with the lack of a SCSA or The Rock that is causing what is happening. I can't stop thinking that this is the reason Vince keeps bringing in new talent because he wants to try and get that back again and hopes someone he brings in can deliver that. There also could be some other plan they have for having HHH as champ. Saying it is because HHH used his pull to get it is just an educated opinion based on other facts but not concrete proof to the affect.
I think if anyone can replace HHH it is Randy Orton. He has that special something about him that just ooozes greatness. He is great in the ring and very good on the mic. Not to mention he is only 24 and got where he is a lot faster than HHH did. That says a lot for how well he can apply his skills to be #1.
Guys like RVD and Jericho seem to be missing that shock and awe factor that would put them up there with The Rock and SCSA. I think that is what vince is looking for and He may think HHH is the only guy right now that has that in him.
O'Neill's columns are my favorite thing about this site. Everything he's said about Levesque is true, and I love to see someone other than myself get pissed at how that p.o.s. has ruined WWE. The breakdown of Levesque's domination of Raw over the last two years was great. I've actually run through it like that in my head many times before, but when you see it written down it becomes even more aggravating.
You don't like his columns? Wah. They show up once every few weeks. They constitute about .01 percent of this site's content. If you have some sort of problem with the truth then just don't read them.
