I don't think it was a mistake as far as keeping Triple H and heel and Orton a face, I just think the timing is bad. I mean you have Orton come out and cut a heel promo then wretle Benoit in a match, then have Evolution turn on him immediately after. While the turn did shock everyone, I think they jumped the gun. They needed to have a slow turn, which I thought they were doing when Triple H talked with Orton in the locker room. Have Triple H take Orton under his wing, develop him into a confident champ, then when he feels like it, have Triple H turn on Orton, saying he wants his title back. For Evolution to attack Orton with no explanation or reason doesn't make sense. I mean, just because he won the title you're going to kick him out of the group? That's stupid. It's obvious now there's no way Triple H and Orton will face off at WM 21, I mean I just don't see WWE being able to drag out this feud until then. Now, if they had done a slow tease of dissention in Evolution, leading to Triple H and the group turning on Orton shortly after the Roayl Rumble, it would work. Once again, WWE refuses to show patience and has jumped the gun, and at this point there's nothing saying that Orton is going to work as a face, since all we've seen him be is a cocky, arrogant heel. He was a heel Monday but because he was jumped we're immediately supposed to like him? I don't think so. You need to build us up to the turn, not spring it on us right away.
Hopefully this turn won't hurt Orton's career, but I think the way they've gone about his turn is wrong. While it made for an entertaining end to RAW, it doesn't help anyone in the long run.
I think that as long as his character doesnt do a 180, it wont be that bad
if he goes from being the cocky arrogant heel to a goody-two-shoes face, it wont work. maybe if he works an uneasy alliance with Benoit, while still displaying some heel mannerisms, it will be okay
I think it was too soon. Like you said Dj, he opened the show with a heel promo that ripped into the fans big time. So to have him turn face at the end of the same show is a little too much. I agree with Mister D in that if he's a full-fledge good guy next week then we have a problem. Slowness is key if they want him to be a believeable good guy. For starters, he should go out next week and ask all the 24 year old women to take off their shirts.
there's something i think you guys may be forgetting in this thing.
Triple H is involved too, and for this thing to make any sense they need to pay attention to detail with respect to both guys. That title is Triple H's life, the guy does everything he can to get a shot at it. Eugene causes him to lose in his title match and what happens? he gets the craped kicked out of him the next night. Granted that situation is a little different then someone else winning the title, but reguardless it shows Triple H's character.
Fast Forward to last night:
Randy Orton is out there cutting a heel promo because he has no clue evolution is going to turn on him. He's being himself. Now if your Triple H, and a guy who is in your stable, who is a lot younger than you, who has not only just won the title, but had done something you couldn't (beat benoit) are you really going to sit back and drop little hints over the comming weeks before taking action? No. He did what Triple H the heel needed to do.
With respect to Randy Orton, everyone likens that guy to the Rock. Well when The Rock went from Heel to Face, he didn't stop talking arrogantly, he didn't become a goody two shoes, he was still the rock but the fans wanted to cheer him. Thats the only place i think they went to early on. There wasn't a full fledged out cry for orton to be face. However it makes the most sense for everyone involved for him to have been turned on last night and no still be Randy Orton and slowly change to face.
Good point Biggins, and I agree with you about Triple H and how is character is built around having the title. My problem is that Triple H knew for three weeks that Orton was going to face Benoit, and he never mentioned once how either A.) Randy's lucky to have a title shot; or B.) if you beat Benoit, I get first shot at you and the title.
Plus, we never saw Triple H mention to Batista or Ric Flair that they need to do something about Orton. Either before or after he won the title, Triple H could've said, "You know, I think Randy thinks he's better than us because he's got a shot at the title, or because he's the champ. I brought him into Evolution, and I can take him out." It was almost too sudden. Of course we'll get the explanation next week, but I think it would've been more effective if they would've set up the turn a little bit before executing it.
I also feel that the fast turn has a lot to do with their low rating the previous week. They wanted to shock us to get us to watch next week, and while that will work in the short term, if they don't show any good long-term planning, the ratings will dip back down again.
One more point, what about Eugene and Regal? I can't believe they weren't even on the show last night. They've been put on the backburner, although I suspect they'll buddy up with Orton to go against Evolution here soon.

I guess its a bit of an opinion on this one. If anything Triple H could've just not thought that Orton was going to do it given the fact that Triple H couldn't but who knows we'll find out next week.
Im starting a topic about Eugene, check it out its an idea i've been kicking around for a while...
As for HHH plotting to attack or hinting dissension within evolution towards Orton, I think doing it before the attack would've been stupid, because Orton would've seen the tape, and they wouldn't have gotten the jump on him.

But your forgetting, Lita told Stacey that she was pregnant on live TV, and Matt Hardy didnt find out about it untill Lita told him... WWE Superstars don't watch themselfs on tape.
Yeah, also if Triple H had been plotting against Orton for several weeks before an eventual attack, Orton might have read possible storyline spoilers on the internet and found out that way... 8)
I dont even feel hes ready for the belt. Hes only 24...what is there for him to do when hes 30. He'll be just like Rock and Brock; leave the WWE because hes done everything and hes bored. There feeding him to us to fast and two soon.
