My god what horrendous PPV. Orton's win was okay but man those matches were ass. WWE have not put on a good PPV since Wrestlemania and even that wasn't great. JBL should be shot. Spike is cool. Flair is still the man, thats what I learned tonight.
"Overall, this was a disappointing PPV, virtually from top to bottom. The fans in Toronto were surprisingly quiet for the majority of the show, and in the case of Layfield vs. Taker - even though it wasn't a great match - the fans made the bout worse with their disinterest and random cheers and chants for anything BUT what was happening in the ring."
-From JV's SS review.
This is 100% true. The crowd was hooooooooorible. The wave? Please. Its SummerSlam for crying out loud, and it would have been a kickass PPV if it wasnt for the crowd.

Sorry but that isn't awful fans. It is just fans that are not full of stupidity. They did the wave and stuff because they simply didn't care. Why would you care for a match with two awful wrestlers (Sorry Taker has not been good since the early ministry days) that are on a show that has become one of the worst wrestling shows ever? Stupid fans are not fans who don't support an awful product. Stupid fans are idiots that support that crap. Good to hear Edge didn't get cheered. Who cares if it is his hometown because he has gone majorly downhill. Eugene getting heat from the crowd is also great. A retarded character the WWE stole is a disgrace to wrestling. If I wanted to watch retards I would watch BYW.
The thing I noticed i guess was that the fans were into Eddie/Angle and Orton and Benoit. These were the two matches on the show that contained decent wrestling. Toronto just respects good wrestling. I think the Eugene character has run its course and it was proven that Bradshaw cannot carry as champion. Had Taker been in there with anybody else it would have been a decent match. The crowd showing no respect to Taker/JBL was a product of what was going on in the ring. If you can deliver a decent match the crowd will be into it. They already had a strike against them with Bradshaw in the ring but then they could not do anything exciting or worth watching.
I enjoyed the show because I go out of my way to judge a match without taking crowd reactions into effect.
Toronto is not a good wrestling crowd. Dont be fooled by the hype. The IC Title match and the Eugene match were both good, but Toronto's ridiculous desire to cheer only people that they deem cool enough made these matches less enjoyable. Did anyone notice how Eugene would hit a move, there would be a quick cheer and then all of a sudden it turned to boos, as if the crowd was saying to itself "wait, I'm too cool to like this guy, I have to boo"
Taker-JBL was decent (I emphasize decent...it wasnt exactly a 4-star match), and deserved more respect from the crowd. Although I dont like JBL as champ, and dont think he's particularly good in the ring, it was probably the best match of JBL's not-so-glorious career. And Taker is still the man
The 6-man tag was great. I never really saw Paul London before, and I was incredibly impressed. The main event was good, and Angle-Guerrero was good.
You wanna talk about good crowds, talk about New York or Chicago. The Toronto crowd ruined Summerslam just like they did Wrestlemania 18 (at least every match besides Rock-Hogan). they did the wave. the fucking WAVE. At least if you're gonna do something disrespectful, dont do the corniest phenomenon in the history of live sporting events.
but hey, if anyone didnt like the show, thats your opinion, and you're entitled to it.
Also, just for the record, I thought Backlash and Vengeance were good too, especially Backlash

That is all I was saying as well. Thank you for backing up my original concept of the shitty crowd. I have a TON to talk about with this show but dont have the time right now. I will add more later tonight.
But overall I would give the SS show a 8 out of 10. I thought it was a really good show despite the crowd. (I bet the corwd sucked because IdaMAN was in the crowd and they all fed off his negativity. lol To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 20 or greater.
